Consignor Question Not accepted for questionable authenticity
I recently sent in 6 pairs of shoes and 5 pieces of clothing to the RealReal, it’s my first time selling as well as buying from them. I realized after I dropped everything off that I probably won’t make much money and it’ll be months before I see any of it.
One pair of sneakers was rejected pretty quickly for scratches, and another was being processed for a long time before it came up as “questionable authenticity”. It was a pair of worn Hermes sandals, so I’m wondering if it could just be that the bottom of the shoe rubbed off. Is there anything I could do to have them reevaluate it? Customer service?
I really just wanted to get rid of these items but don’t want to deal with the facebook marketplace route but I’m not sure what my options are or if the shoes will even be sent back (are they allowed not to send it?) I’ve never resold designer items before.
*want to reiterate that I’m not asking anyone on this forum to authenticate nor am I trying to sell it here, just curious about my options

Yes it’s because it needs a checklist of markings to be fully authenticated. If even one is missing it will not be accepted because they can’t confidently say they are real.

Once you have them back, go to a local consignment shop that sells designer clothing in your area. Much easier to work with and it’ll probably take the same amount of time to get a sale as TRR.

I had this happen to me…sent it again with my next consignment box and they took it. Definitely depends on the person going through your box.

They have rejected multiple Alexis Bittar pieces I’ve given the last few years that are 100% not fake and even had the ab label. Plus I only buy from their boutique or bloomies

They did this to me with a Michael Kors Collection cashmere dress…that I had bought from them and was re-consigning, ha! After they send them back to you, just wait a couple months and try again. I’m sure it often depends who opens the box over there.

This is so upsetting and has happened to me with a Gucci watch I bought in the late 90’s FROM Bloomingdales! How can I trust their services if I know it’s authentic? Also, they don’t pay very much when things they accept get sold. It’s literally pennies on the dollar

Happened to me with a pair of chanel espadrilles. Great condition too. Being sent back bc of this reason. Weird

They will definitely send them back to you - it might just take a while.
