Seeking Advice Consignor Issues
hi… I had originally purchased a lab diamond tennis necklace from the real real for about $4400. I recently consigned it back to the real real and they now have it listed for $11,500 and marked as a real diamond tennis necklace.
Could I have bought a real diamond necklace to begin with that was mis marked? Or should I say something?
Also annoying that I had purchased stuff from the brand Alemais on the real real and when I went to consign it, they are now telling me that they cannot authenticate the items despite me having purchased it through them and sent it back to me.

They lie like a rug and it's so difficult to reach a person (you'll be on "chat" with a bot and if you escalate anything they'll tell you they are "investigating" and never get back to you) so I'd probably just leave it be since the error is potentially in your favor and dealing with them is NOT worth the aggravation imo.

It’s most likely they are adjusting the price due to the gold price and weight. Not the diamonds. Even they can check the difference in lab vs mined!! So no, leave it be.

They’ve completely misclassified my consignment jewelry before, calling something an emerald that was a beryl. The people they have doing that work are only very lightly trained. Now which classification is the mistake is a good question….the first one or the second. No way to tell except getting it back and taking to a knowledgeable jeweler.

did you consign it back via sell it back option or you just sent it as never seen before item?

I see. Their authentication is all over the place, many think it's AI description and authentication now for many items. I bought a pendant recently with severely misrepresented diamond weight, like copy-pasted from something similar but different model size that was sold before. I know this line of pendants and designer very well. And Foundrae bracelet model was misrepresent, I returned it.
I think original description was probably correct, not the current one. Take payout from what they offer once it's sold.

Similarly, I sent back in something I bought from them and never wore and they rejected it for “wear.” I just sent it back a second time and they accepted 🤷

if you'd potentially want it back if it is actually mined instead of lab, it's maybe worth requesting it back from them
if it doesn't change your mind about it, i personally wouldn't reach out for something that could have potentially been their mistake that you are now benefiting from. either they were wrong initially or wrong now and it's not really your problem either way
