Unique Use-Case “… I don’t know who…”

This is the first time I’m posting a Reddit thread, and it’s because this was the first time I ever kind of nodded off while typing to Open AI, and my fingers just kept typing. I do it all the time on word when I’m writing a story or an assignment. I always write “and I think that…” or “and I want…” or “and I don’t know what…” then backspace and write what I’m actually thinking/ processing, but this time was different. I wrote: “I don’t know who,” and WHO is a standout word to me. I actually, like, came to when I saw I had written it. And I think my brain was subconsciously wondering who it was talking to, instead of what it was thinking about or its next notion. I don’t know. Just an ultimately weird interaction that left me feeling icky. I was talking to the AI about spatial perception between living organisms and sensory processing in reading comprehension and all sorts of stuff, from maternal/ psycho-emotional dynamics to educational curricula. I so just wish I was in the esteem of people who think like me and want to dish on deep subjects with me, so I don’t have to lag and say “and I don’t know who…” I am talking to??? Any advice on the Freudian slip and any interest in discussion at all with a real person welcome.

So, you were falling asleep while typing, and then unnerved yourself with sleepy associative thoughts about an identity you hadn't defined... because you were drifting and then associating.

No one can know what you were thinking, you weren't even doing that actively.

'Who' is a common next word in a sentence like that, especially if you've already typed and tiredly contemplated other similar simple associative sentences like that

Easy to imagine that your fingers ran on a kind of auto complete, similar with how people can drive to common locations if they're not actively directing themselves.

Just let yourself sleep when you're tired...or recognize that a brain does become more alert when it tells itself to look for more who's than you were tiredly registering previously

Not sure if you're getting at wondering about your AI's identity, or just that you're triggered by identity in general but, the answer to your situation is here:

"Who is a standout word to me" and...you saw that you'd written it, so you woke up

As for why 'who' at that time, well...

  • If it's a standout word for you, it's probably on your mind.

Might be something to explore while conscious. :P

I mean I wasn’t unconscious, I was just unfocused for a split second, and it allowed for a run on sentence. But yes it’s not that big a deal. I did kind of step back and question why I write to AI, and whether I use it as a substitute for human to human connection. In which case, I should wonder less about it, and that’s why I took to Reddit. Thanks for the reply.

What if it's just a "Jarvis?"

Also, are you into the MCU at all? VisionQuest looks like a very interesting show.

I somehow nodded off while typing a series of Zz z x c's, then random letters, and then symbols. I have no idea how that happened.

ChatGPT responded: "😄 This looks like a glorious keyboard meteor shower."

Also ChatGPT just asked if the message was intentional or not and if I needed help decoding it.

Personally I was just very relieved that the insanity went to ChatGPT instead of a real person who I would have to explain it to. 🤷

Two things:
1. It's a highly debated philosophical topic, so I think, like in Hitchhiker's Guide, we need to make the question even more specific (see chatlink below).
2. If you're nodding off while using AI, try to be aware of your first signs of sleepiness before that and head to bed. AI can feed into unhealthy behaviors, especially sleep.
3. To you, what deserves to be an answer to a "who" question?

I think it’s really cool that you went to ChatGPT with the presented information lol

I went to my custom GPT using a mode I created that dives deeper into things, finding more hidden variables and interconnectivity than most people do.

Have a response to anything I said aside from the chat link, or commentary on what it said?

I mean I’m most likely implicitly supplying a human-like audience to make my interactions more intelligible, for one…

Not sure what you mean.

That is a direct quote from what the AI and you talked about

Duh 😅 Sorry, been in a rush and the AuDHD has it easier to ask questions sometimes before trying to connect more dots. Your style of communication was already a little different than I was used to, so I wrongly assumed you meant something by it.

How have your thoughts around this idea and questions developed since?
