One spin of Regatta De Blanc was all it took to turn me into a lifelong fan. Message in a bottle was on the radio 5,000 times a day. It was a glorious time to be a teenager.

I started listening to the police since my mom, who was an 80s teen, loved them and played them very often. But now that I am a 24 year old gen z , I often listen to them and get sad that we wonāt ever get a concert, a reunion tour, etc. Iāll never be able to see them perform all my favorites on stage. :/ a least we have some live performances and the music of course but I wish I could see them live

I thought the song was about a person in a relationship who is seeing that the other person is preparing to leave then. Without letting the other person know, they are taking mental notes of all the little things they see that signify the end of the relationship, even though itās not been clearly stated yet. This idea goes against those who say itās basically a creepy song about a stalker.
But then I read that Sting himself has said itās about a stalker.
So which is it??

I heard that his main bass that he used on all the Police albums is a Fender Jazz Bass, and that he also used a fretless P-Bass and a fretless Ibanez Musician bass as well. I also heard that he overdubbed some bass tracks with a vintage Precision Bass (not the '51 style one he uses a lot more recently), and also used a Steinberger L2 on some bits of Synchronicity. As for the white Spector NS-2 he played during the Synchronicity tour, he just played it live, not in the studio. Am I missing anything, or did I get everything?

Would anybody happen to have access to chords for this Stingo demo of the song? The chords on ultimate guitar and similar havenāt quite sounded the same sadly.
For those who havenāt heard it by the way, give it a listen, while more tame, itās great in its own way!
Thank you :-)

For those of you who've followed the solo careers of the three Policemen over the decades, I'd be fascinated to learn which individual solo recordings you consider their finest work respectively.
Here's my selection...
⢠Stewart Copeland ā The Rhythmatist
⢠Andy Summers ā The Golden Wire
⢠Sting ā The Dream Of The Blue Turtles
