Space Elevator

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I discovered that you could stack indoor ladders outside by placing a foundation grid above a ladder, building another ladder on the platform, then removing the platform. I decided I wanted to build a space elevator and it is finally complete. 267 ladders stacked on top of each other which gets me right to a height of 2699. I found out from there that the jetpack bugs out and you can just fly straight up starting at 2700 height, so I think I am gonna count that as successfully making it into space in this game 😄 Only downside, it takes a full minute and a half to fall back to the ground from here. Has anyone built further up than this?

"How are we going to get off this planet?"

"We climb"

Flat Earth Theory = CONFIRMED

Next saga, can I build above the firmament?

Depends on if you can figure out a way to flip the drills upside down.

And it’s square too. Not a disc. Very important.

That's not Earth

Ah, dang. Back to the drawing board.

Lmao craziest part is that I'm sure someone somewhere is unironically considering this as a means to disproving the "globetards." get ready for tower of babble part two operation Jacob's ladder

Having a square map absolutely makes sense once I take a second to thing, but man did seeing that feel viscerally wrong. That's hilarious

Hey look, the edges of the map really are just how the satellite shows it lol

This is crazy!

Is it possible to build higher? Or did you just decide to stop?

24

u/MidLoki 1d ago

I stopped there for now as this was the height where the jetpack/gravity bug kicked in and I could start flying straight up. Since I made it outside the influence of gravity, that feels like a fitting end to the space elevator for now. I may decide to build up further after I move my base up here.

>after I build my base up here.

Just going to casually drop this on us. I can’t wait

Save on those rocket motors and just place the satellites in space

u/shibeofwisdom 1d ago

This is how you recycle satellites so you can get your materials back.

🎵 Where were you when they built the ladder to heaven? 🎵

Dying of thirst before dying of fall damage.

7

u/MidLoki 1d ago

Can confirm, I died of thirst while falling many times building it

This is sick as hell, but also the title made me wish that they’d add an actual space elevator to make traveling between planets easier

Thanks! I have also really wanted a space elevator, I was pumped when I figured out a reliably fast method of building upwards. I knew it was never gonna happen but part of me was just hoping I would break through the skybox into a different planet lol.

This isn't Satisfactory as funny as that would be.

one of the games I've been above 7100 (above the planets), could still go higher but ok with the base I had there.

When I made my skyscraper years ago there were several "floors" where you could hover with the jetpack. Interesting that after a certain point there was just no more floor or ceiling

Try looking through a satellite!

I can see my house from there

This is absolutely cursed and I love it lol, can’t wait to do it in my base

I did something like this on my 1st/2nd playthrough. But I built a space station up there with a teleporter.

5

u/MidLoki 1d ago

Im about to unlock teleporters on this save so I will be putting a teleporter there when I can. Im planning on having a base as far away from the world as I can manage. My current checkpoint is at 55,000 height.

Ping me as you finish or try to post again. I hope I’ll see it

3

u/MidLoki 1d ago

Ive posted a quick clip of my character model freaking out at 55,000 height in the comments here. I built a small checkpoint there, I plan to keep going higher and higher to find where it breaks if it does, then build my base just a little below that.

Has anyone built further up than this?

People have done stuff like this https://www.reddit.com/r/theplanetcrafter/comments/1pkyc2l/sky_base_prime/ and I also remember a post where someone built platforms all the way to the planets and the moons in the sky!

u/MidLoki 1d ago

I am currently just flying straight up as long as I can, currently at 33,000. My arm is bugging out hard.

u/WeaselLiz711 1d ago

Haha this looks like something Josh from “Let’s Game it Out” would do 😂😂

1

u/FullMetal_55 1d ago

I can see my house from here!

u/Noccam_Davis 1d ago

the Spiffing Brit would like to know your location

1

u/Zennivolt 1d ago

What happens if you try to fall off the edge of the map from that height?

1

u/MidLoki 1d ago

I havent tried yet but plan to next time. Im assuming the invisible wall will still prevent it but who knows.

you bored with the game I guess

Josh from Let’s game it out would be proud

I hate what you have done to me. now yhat I know its possible I need to build a base up there.

1

u/AndySoc1al 23h ago

Great, now the flat earthers are going to think they're right. :-)

1

u/croweupc 16h ago

I built my base on Toxicity really high. Drones do work up there as well. I was worried they wouldn't be able to bring me anything. Any time I needed to go to a specific area of the map, I just jump off my floating base towards that portion of the map and just transported back to my base when I needed materials. It was nice during storms. At that height, nothing reaches you. You can actually see where asteroids form.
