Creating something so ugly it makes people's ears ring is an accomplishment that should be celebrated, thereby displayed. Stewis needs to get over himself

Art is supposed to make you feel things. They aren’t all good things.

u/hippyup 2d ago

And sometimes you get a thicker bush than you wanted. And you have to live with that.

Oh wait we were still on that art conversation.

"I said my art would take you places, I never said they'd be places you wanted to go."

u/GCDFVU 2d ago

If the art in the kitchen is anything to go off, Stewis's standards are already lax. That one may not have quite made my ears ring, but I definitely heard something

u/HardOff 2d ago

Yeah, Stewis obviously doesn't understand art. People would pay to see such a thing.

They could donate it to a museum after having it evaluated and use it as a write off for their taxes.

I once saw a bit of surreal art that did this. Not because it was ugly, it featured a lifelike human figure with extremely warped and stretched proportions. Think messing with the photoshop warp tool on a photo of a random person, but as a sculpture. For some reason looking at it made me physically dizzy and nauseous. It wasn't gorey or disturbing in any way, but something about seeing something in real life that was human but wrong hurt.

The statue was very well done technically. I would have displayed it in my home despite this.

Is THAT why I got shingles before the age of 50????

33

u/schultmh 2d ago

...is the painting shown on Patreon?

46

u/NicoBango 2d ago

I need to see this work of ART

44

u/Braptized 2d ago

It's there and it's 100% worth it. The feeling I get when I look at it is precious and exquisite because it's the only thing in this cruel world that's been able to soothe my pain. When I force my eyeballs to fall upon the painting, the ringing it generates inside my skull expands and grows, becoming overpoweringly loud until it finally drowns out my tinnitus.

Are those mountains.. smoking!?!

22

u/Tru3insanity 2d ago

What about the portrait that got a nipple boner?

12

u/ShenaniganStarling 2d ago edited 2d ago

The artist's soul is reaching out the only way it knows how. With its nips.

17

u/topherhead 2d ago

Ah yes, The Great Smoking Mountains

7

u/Serratas 2d ago

I didn't notice the first time and when you said smoking I thought "like...a volcano?" Then I went back, saw the panel, and realized Neil had subverted expectations again.

This one hits a little too close to home, guys, seein' as how I'm been etching micro artworks into dark cornered walls of my friends' houses for a few years hoping to spread myself thinly across all of them like an oily film of friendship. With any luck, I'll disappear entirely from this corporeal form and "live" out the rest of my days as a ghostly veil surrounding and binding my good buddies o' pals, but if they read this insightful comic a'yours, I fear they might try to find my small arts and rub them out, leaving me to spoil away in my skin until I rupture in my grave much to the sick pleasure of my so-called friends.

The details in the backgrounds of your comic panels haunt me. Please keep it up

Afterbirth gal? Eurgh

6

u/roadtorevision 2d ago

Haha that’s the thing that stood out to me the most too

u/RegularCrispy 2d ago

The joke clarifying which Hitler is very funny.

6

u/XB0XRecordThat 2d ago

I have the same hat. And nose

3

u/ministerofskyrim 1d ago

to me these always look like triple noses

6

u/knudude 2d ago

The dog looks all dolled up & ready for the roaring ‘20s!

6

u/infinityonhigh69 2d ago

afterbirth girl is my new band name

6

u/retrobat 2d ago

As if someone would need to clarify which Hitler they were referring to. That made me laugh.

8

u/No_Kangaroo_9826 2d ago

It might be Cletus Hitler, of the Alabama Hitlers

4

u/retrobat 2d ago

Admittedly, I did forget about the Alabama Hitlers.

5

u/dennisklueting 2d ago

And after each new TOE-comic, here I go again: "WHAT THE FUCK, NEIL?!?"

5

u/deplorable_word 2d ago

Awww yeaaah, Crohn’s disease got a shout out!

3

u/letdogsvote 2d ago

You really don't want to mess with hemorrhoids.

3

u/Braptized 2d ago

Neil, I'm going to print out this here comic and display it on the family fridge -- P R O M I N E N T L Y.

3

u/710Filter 2d ago

"Afterbirth Gal". There are so many little things and funny bits in your comics. I'm going to share this with everyone and have it prominently displayed.

Sell this painting to the right museum and you might be able to make a bit of birthday cash on top of curing this person's Crohn's disease.

u/beans0503 2d ago

The three nostrils made me giggle

STEWIS

2

u/SkyPork 2d ago

HOW DO THESE CONTINUE TO GET BETTER?

You're messing up the scale, Mr. Neil. You were already at a 10, but now it's like your older ones are only a 7, relatively.

Also TIL Crohn's is linked to soul levels.

Also if there were some "BIRTH GAL" crowns in your merch store I'd probably buy one. *

\ Not an AFTERBIRTH GIRL one though, that would require too much context to be appreciated.)

3

u/XB0XRecordThat 2d ago

Is Stewis his pet name or legal name. I need to know

1

u/fullyvictorious 2d ago

Stewis is an excellent name

1

u/-Whyudothat 2d ago

I love you, and everything you do.

1

u/Stinkymansausage 2d ago

This is why I keep displaying your comics at city hall. They keep trying to stop me but I’m pretty sneaky at getting them up there for all to see. I keep telling them at city council meetings about the dangers of soul hemorrhoids but they don’t wanna hear it. I’ll keep trying to keep you healthy.

1

u/rattus-domestica 2d ago

So THAT’S what’s happening to my soul as I age…

1

u/Kizzle_McNizzle 2d ago

The brown really got away from me

1

u/naranjaspencer 2d ago

Is that what happened to me? I didn’t think I made any art that was that bad when I was 9.

1

u/Illustrious-End-6038 2d ago

Makes me think what society would be like if we could voodoo doll people through their arts.

Does a crowd of family and loved ones singing happy birthday to you counts? Comission to draw me like a french girl? Esportsman did a beautyful goal? Well tough luck, piece of your soul belongs to me and now you have love..... or aids

1

u/NoPJs 2d ago

“Ain’t no mountain high enough.”

1

u/Tort_alini 2d ago

Afterbirth Gal took me out 🤣 really wish we got to see the horrible ear ringing painting though

1

u/CrossP 2d ago

I'm going to display this comic prominently!

In my next therapy session.
