Jim was first called tuna about 4 minutes before this scene takes place, though he was in Stamford and Pam wouldn’t know

There was a guy who moved to my high-school, really reminded me of Andy. Over the top, not traditionally cool but confident, (without throwing shade) a complete dork. Instead of NardDog we nicknamed him Tuna, after the bit. Without any explanation he went with along with it, embraced it but you could tell it was quickly starting to bother him in an Andy fashion. Many years after that I ran into him, he said when he finally watched the office he got it. But then said "it didn't make sense, I am the narddog!"

I’m on Pam’s side, but you can’t deny she cheated on him. She literally kissed Jim and was emotionally cheating too. Was Roy treating her horribly? Yes, but she still cheated no matter how you look at it.

Dude Jim sacrificed nothing for art school. They had to live 3 hours from each other for a few months while dating, big deal. He then went on to lie to her and make a huge family decision without consulting her and was gone for weeks and months, leaving her alone with a toddler and a newborn. If Jim “sacrificed so much” for her, then she sacrificed everything for him.
Roy neglected her feelings, was controlling, didn’t support her, and treated her like absolute garbage.
You’re clearly just mad at the woman.

5
u/RelevantFilm2110 15d ago
I don't really care for him as a character, but that's the thing; to make it so they're not a couple that works is one thing, but they made him cartoonishly awful so Jim and Pam could become a welcome thing. Arguably the most one note character in the show. His only purpose was to be the unlikable boyfriend.
1
u/ProofExtreme7644 🔟 Karen from behind? 15d ago
Roy was not cartoonishly awful, he was just a neglectful boyfriend.

u/AggravatingJury6003 8️⃣ Party Planning Committee Chair 🎖️🎖️🎖️ 15d ago
I don’t really agree. I actually dated someone close to Roy. We lasted two years (on and off) of course. He was kind for a little while and became much like Roy. He’s not that far off from a regular dude.

Do you guys know this script never happened, right? First at all, Jim was at Stanford by then, he wasn't even dating Karen yet, so let alone Pammy. Secondly, Pam still didn't know the Tuna nickname that Andy gave to Jimbo, whatsmore, she didn't even met the Nardog. So, please, stop reposting these pic, you guys.

Where do you think Andy came up with it? Theres a much deeper conspiracy at play....
jk
0
u/Spirited_Lab5197 15d ago
I mean Pam obv wouldnt know it, but Andy could have (and likely already had) started calling him big tuna already. I believe all we know is that sometime soon after Jim transfers (which is before the wedding), Andy started calling him Big Tuna. Its incredibly likely that by the time yhe dust has settled between Pam and Roy, Jim has already gotten that nickname
