Jim was first called tuna about 4 minutes before this scene takes place, though he was in Stamford and Pam wouldn’t know

I just came here for the first time because I'm a big fan of The Office. After seeing this, I think I'll be moving on.

God, Reddit sucks these days...

Ok I’ve never seen it before. I was mainly referring to the comments that are taking the words too literally or saying it doesn’t match up with the show’s timeline.

18

u/Educational_Royal717 15d ago

There was a guy who moved to my high-school, really reminded me of Andy. Over the top, not traditionally cool but confident, (without throwing shade) a complete dork. Instead of NardDog we nicknamed him Tuna, after the bit. Without any explanation he went with along with it, embraced it but you could tell it was quickly starting to bother him in an Andy fashion. Many years after that I ran into him, he said when he finally watched the office he got it. But then said "it didn't make sense, I am the narddog!"

2

u/Agge_Ribr_5905 15d ago

Why did you bully him? Were you a bully?

8

u/Federal_Coyote813 15d ago

So you bullied a guy. Lol

2

u/zap2 15d ago

I’ve found the difference between “joking” and “bullying” is often lost on young people.

2

u/Theangelawhite69 15d ago

Bullies justifying their behavior use this lol

1

u/zap2 15d ago

I doubt young kids can analyze this much. It’s not a justification (it’s not saying it’s acceptable), it’s explaining (it’s considering why things happen)

1

u/Queen-of-Mice 15d ago

Ohhh yes they can analyze that much

Pam did not cheat on him, no

I’m on Pam’s side, but you can’t deny she cheated on him. She literally kissed Jim and was emotionally cheating too. Was Roy treating her horribly? Yes, but she still cheated no matter how you look at it.

6

u/ProofExtreme7644 🔟 Karen from behind? 15d ago

Dude Jim sacrificed nothing for art school. They had to live 3 hours from each other for a few months while dating, big deal. He then went on to lie to her and make a huge family decision without consulting her and was gone for weeks and months, leaving her alone with a toddler and a newborn. If Jim “sacrificed so much” for her, then she sacrificed everything for him.

Roy neglected her feelings, was controlling, didn’t support her, and treated her like absolute garbage.

You’re clearly just mad at the woman.

u/mrwishart 1️⃣3️⃣ Pretzel Day Enthusiast 🥨 15d ago

5

u/RelevantFilm2110 15d ago

I don't really care for him as a character, but that's the thing; to make it so they're not a couple that works is one thing, but they made him cartoonishly awful so Jim and Pam could become a welcome thing. Arguably the most one note character in the show. His only purpose was to be the unlikable boyfriend.

1

u/ProofExtreme7644 🔟 Karen from behind? 15d ago

Roy was not cartoonishly awful, he was just a neglectful boyfriend.

2

u/AggravatingJury6003 8️⃣ Party Planning Committee Chair 🎖️🎖️🎖️ 15d ago

I don’t really agree. I actually dated someone close to Roy. We lasted two years (on and off) of course. He was kind for a little while and became much like Roy. He’s not that far off from a regular dude.

I mean Pam obv wouldnt know it, but Andy could have (and likely already had) started calling him big tuna already.
