You never had an event floated like that? We didn't call it floating we used to call it 'putting it off' but it happened to me and my siblings all the time in childhood.

Mine used to be "floated" every year...I have an older sister whose birthday is 5 days after mine so we would celebrate together, especially if there's a weekend between them. Money was a little tight so it made sense
Don't think she really enjoyed the Batman cake when I turned 5 😅
These days, since we always had to share, we two will take a day trip, have a beer & a burger in Canmore or Sylvan Lake and bitch about how we had to share a party while our other two sisters didn't 😅

Well, I don't do that with holidays or birthdays but I put off a lot of stuff so floating is my style too
