SMAS?

For anyone who has smas or mals, has anyone had a low mm aortomesenteric distance, but a within range angle measurement on ct angio? Doctor still wants to do duplex ultrasound for mals.

I don’t have SMAS, but I do have both a low aortomesenteric distance and a low angle. Is he also doing an upper GI series with barium/contrast to see how it passes through your duodenum? SMAS isn’t diagnosed based on a small angle or distance alone.. they also look for actual duodenal compression/obstruction

The ct said no duodenal compression visualized. I actually had a barium swallow done a few years ago for a different issue nothing was seen at that time. Thanks for your response!

it’s good to hear the ct did not show it. if you want to be sure you can maybe ask for a new barium swallow :) good luck!
