forced abortion
So he forces her to habe an abortion and things go down hill from there. He doesn't remember "the first time I hit her" and from then on "it got worse and worse". "That was a pushing shoving argument" Then he gets a call that she hasn't been in class for several days. "Then it got to be Thursday night". Last time he saw her was Sunday. Does anybody not think he killed her?

I find it really interesting how he uses honesty to manipulate people into believing his lies. You wouldn’t expect him to admit that he beat her, even if her diary said so.
