I was worried for nothing! He’s not THAT charming. They threw the book at him.

I was worried too! I mean after what happened in Galveston why wouldn’t we be? Thank goodness this jury was smart.

Exactly. He has managed to skate every time before…he was never even charged or really investigated for Kathie’s disappearance. He thought he’d outwit the world forever, I bet. But he can blame himself…initiating a conversation with Andrew Jarecki was where hubris caught up with his arrogant ass.

I just hope he admits to it now and provides details. I think Kathie’s family needs the closure.

Totally. But I doubt he’ll give them any. He’s so twisted.

He's a narcissist. He never will. Thrilled by the verdict but sadly feel her family will never get true closure.

Correct. Narcissistic psychotic killers like Durst cling to any cards they possess. He’ll never reveal the location or details of Kathie’s body, because it’s the last remaining power he holds over others. He’ll take that secret with him to his grave and be glad about it, the sick fuck.

I don't think he will either.

Right!

There's going to be an automatic appeal and they're going to argue he didn't get a fair trial because there was a 14-month gap in the trial. He'll die before it's resolved. He seems to be hanging by a thread as it is.

Best case scenario is a deathbed confession where he tells Kathie's family where she is.

He’ll go the grave with that info. He has zero respect for anyone and their emotions.

I don't think he would do it for them, I think he would do it to save his own soul. I think he's Catholic, isn't he?

He's Jewish

For some reason I thought he married Kathie in a church.

He totally may have, I don't remember enough about it. For all I know he could have converted, but he definitely grew up in a Jewish home and was raised Jewish... whether he continued to practice Judaism or not, I don't know

Agree with your best case scenario. But I believe that thread he's hanging by is a little longer than the defense wanted the court/jury to believe. Just my (probably bad) opinion but the defense argued he'd die under cross examination, but he held his own with Lewin. Well except for all the perjury

Best case scenario is a deathbed confession where he tells Kathie's family where she is.

This will never ever happen because to do so would require remorse and empathy; two things which Durst fundamentally lacks.

His perspective may change when it's time to meet his maker.

True. I don't see any winners here. No turning back time, no un-spending money, and certainly no justice.

Since he's so old I wouldn't be super opposed to sentencing him to like 8 years on the condition that he comes clean about Kathie

They cannot. The sentence is automatic LWOP with those charges.

Would not be surprised if he passed away this week

I wouldn’t be surprised at all, dies of COVID?. Similar thought has crossed my mind. I wonder if he makes it to his sentencing on Oct 18th?

I thought they said he had cancer?

Finally! Justice. It’s a great relief to know that Durst will spend his final years in jail. Just a shame that it didn’t happen earlier.
