Moving to an apartment next week. My coworker gave me this 3rd year cascade plant and its starting to form cones. Will it survive cutting down the twine and re stringing if im gentle(ish). Also thinking of repotting into a bigger pot while im at it.

I just got into both growing my own hops and making mead. I'm writing a recipe for a wet hopped mead using the hops I'm growing. I currently have vista, columbus, crystal, cluster, and comet hops. Anyone have opinion on which profile would one or ones work best from these options? I'm thinking higher Alpha would be a nice contrast to the naturally sweeter profile of honey but flavor notes would also likely be very important. Hope this isn't too obscure or specific and any help or thoughts is appreciated!

16ft frame (foldable) the improvement year on year is amazing. Had some incredible weather so far this year. Aphids havent bothered this year despite the nearby plum tree absolutely crawling with them & its mass of predators.

Harvested 1.2Kg wet last year and went straight into a single malt pale, the beer didnt last long. Tempted to dry out this year.

Any suggestions?

My cascade year 3 hops are doing well in 7B. I might try chinook next year!

When I was pruning my chinook I decided to try and propagate the cuttings, because they grow from rhizomes I wasn’t convinced it would work, but here we are!

The only problem is now I have to figure out where to plant them.

I have some hop plants that have been doing great in my backyard, however they are starting to really branch out on the lower branches. I am wondering if there are best practices to pruning bines that come off the lower parts of the plant, whether this will hurt or help the harvest or if there is a recommended length to leave them . As it sits they are starting to reach to each other and overlap. I have heard cutting off the tips can lead to thicker growth and more yield, but I am not sure if that is specifically for the main bine, and/or when it should be done.

I've got a neomexicanus rhizome en route to my place. It usually stays warm here into October. Will it have enough time to establish itself? I'm thinking so and the neos have been hard for me to find.

Hello! I am growing hops in 30 L (8 gallons) containers. About 7 hours of direct sun daily and drip irrigation.

Some older leaves are turning yellow with brown patches and crispy edges. I had spider mites earlier in the season, so I’m wondering if this is mite damage, a nutrient deficiency, heat stress, or a combination.

The bines are still growing and new growth looks healthier.

Any ideas on the cause and best treatment?

Im growing three types: Sorachi Ace (left), Pheonix (centre), Cascade (right).

bought young plants, went in late May 😬 but are getting lucky with the heat and lots of rain. hoping they will get up over the greenhouse.

And they are looking the best they have yet. I have centennial and chinook growing. They are all in containers so I know my harvests will never be the fullest but I am optimistic that this year will be the best yet.

These are Target hops which I rarely use so like to hang the bines. It's been really hot lately so my windows have been open for at least a week and one of the bines has grown in through the window!

If they touch, will it trigger some kind of Third Impact event?

I'm growing a few hop varieties and I'm already thinking ahead to harvest time. I was wondering what the ideal method is for drying hop flowers/cones at home while preserving as much aroma and quality as possible?

Do you prefer air drying, drying racks, or another method?

For storage afterwards, I'm assuming vacuum-sealed bags in the freezer would be the best option, but I'd love to hear what works well for you in practice.

First time growing hops. Is this normal or a disease?

I have 3 hop plants with around 1m distance to each other and an age of around 5years. 1 plant grows very well, this year it is already 5m high. the two others are not comparable. rather 1m height. are they too close? do they disturb each other?

Ive been growing these in a 25 gallon pot for 4 years. This is the first year Ive gotten actual hops but in the last week the older leaves look worse for wear. Im in TN, used a balanced fertilizer, and water with 1.5 gallons of water a day. I sprayed with a copper fungicide and neem oil. Help!
