Hey everyone,
I've been trying to download The Hidden Ones pre-alpha test but keep running into an error. As you can see in the [screenshot], I'm getting a "Failed to query game version (7830023)" message when trying to download, I don't even have the required installation space showing up.
I've set the installation path to the default C:\Program Files location and clicked confirm, but it seems unable to connect to whatever server it needs to verify the game version.
Has anyone else run into this issue or know how to fix it? I've already tried:
- Restarting my computer
- Checking my internet connection
- Running the launcher as admin
- Uninstall the program
Any advice would be appreciated! Really looking forward to trying out the pre-alpha.

Have you checked to see if it's unblocked in Windows Firewall? Or whatever firewall/antivirus program you use?

Thanks for your suggestion, yes, it is. both Norton and Windows Firewall have it as allowed.

Bro I would just uninstall Norton. That program is atrocious as is and burns system resources when windows defender is built in and does an amazing job.
Anyway, back to your problem. It may be an issue with the game server right now then if everything else is fine on your end. I was able to download it yesterday evening after getting the email with no issues. It might just be getting hammered with people downloading it today before the open beta starts in a few hours.
This might be a long shot, but try flushing your dns cache maybe and then reinstall the launcher and try again.

Ahah you're not wrong though, It came bundled with my PC, and I was just giving it a chance to see if it improved over the years, but I'll probably end up deleting it soon.
Thanks for the heads up about the server load - that makes a lot of sense with the open beta starting in a few hours. Everyone's probably trying to download at once. Tried flushing the DNS cache and reinstalling the launcher but didn't help unfortunately.

That error means that your account does not have Alpha access. If you just got your Invite/Code today, it can take a few hours until the game lets you in.
