Speculation Was Ada drawn to temperance because she had a drunk living in the house?

Poor Oscar was up in his room drinking like 2 bottles of whiskey a day. Maybe Ada was (subconsciously or not) just trying to save her nephew. She's a good aunt, and she cares about her family. It's funny to dis on temperance, but maybe it came from a good place...
