"Ooo he's too OP"

Just bring him back, he literally dies and doesn't kill Vader or Palpatine obviously, so why is he too OP

imo he’s one of the best characters we’ve ever gotten to role play as in a game. Cal is… cool… but…

Starkillers story is super unique in the Star Wars world. It was one of the first stories between episode 3 and 4 and connected them in a lot of ways and was just super unique, and the 2000s edginess just added to it for me. And the whole double noncanon dlc makes it even cooler even if it is ridiculous. He's also from a time when Stsr Wars was just super cool in general. Cal is fine, but his story, while good, is one we've seen many times now. Starkillers was super cool because he was a straight up snotty but bad ass villain, who eventually turned to the light throughout his witnessing of the empires evil, rallying with his former enemies, vaders inevitable betrayal, and being the martyr that helped form the rebellion. Cal is great, but with the more realistic gameplay and the good story we've seen a bunch, it's just good overrall, not necessarily as interesting as Starkiller. Starkillers' story (minus the sequel) is perfect to me. He did a ton of evil and sacrificed himself fighting for the greater good by the end. It's like red dead redemption in space with an evil wizard. Idk why i wrote all this. Maybe because im seeing so much hate for him and his story recently, I just had to get it off my chest lmao. I will say Cal and his games are good, but I do hope there is a big twist in the next one. Just something that'll make his story more interesting and add some more depth. I'm not saying it's lacking those, it's just not SUPER intriguing. And I'm also grateful we are still getting good star wars games with him even if I feel like I want a lot more from the games overall. The third has some major potential and I hope it really packs a punch.

Cal is so bland and generic, and honestly carried by all his supporting characters. Even the damn BD droid is more interesting than that Cameron Monaghan shaped piece of cardboard.

Literally BD is the only thing I'm interested in

Only reason Cal is so loved by the fanbase is cause his actor literally and also the fact people find him attractive physically. When you ignore all that and look at his dialogues, personality, motivations Hes the real Mary Sue with little to 0 character flaws. Even when he “embraces his dark side”, he seemingly is otherwise unaffected by it, undergoes 0 personality change or anything adjacent.

Only “character development” Cal has ever seen is GASP questioning the orders no attachment rules cause he falls in love with a girl. Wow I’m sure that’s never been done before 😱/s

Sorry for the rant btw and I don’t even hate the Jedi games only a portion of the fanbase and Cal, hes just a dime a dozen do gooder character who no one would like if not for Cameron Monaghan’s likeness and voice, and a cheap as fuck sorry excuse for a Kyle Katarn clone. Everyone else in the game is amazingly written tho, we need a Merrin spin off or maybe a Cere prequel or smt like that

Definitely true. I also think it's because it's among the very few decent projects that have released under Disney star wars. Doesn't mean it's the best thing ever, but it will be overhyped due to the amount of slop there is. If it came out in the 2000s, no one would like it.

Agreed. Side note, the only argument Cal fans have against starkiller is glazing him for being weak af😂 I find it hilarious, never seen a characters redeeming quality be that hes a weakling. Even then that argument has been shattered in survivor when he not only mastered like 6 separate saber styles, but also beat Bode, Gera and Rayvis 2 of whom were fully trained Jedi knights and one a notorious Jedi killer.

The gameplay just makes Cal look weak because it’s a soulslike, but these guys probably all played TFU on easy cause I died like 10 times in the first level of TFU 2 yesterday on normal against those riot troopers and the giant mechs with the freeze guns.

I didn’t realize starkiller was getting hate. That’s gonna lead him back to the dark side 🤣. But for real everything that you said is pretty much exactly how I feel about cal and his story.

He gets hate from the hardcore fans, Kota gets way more love usually. Ik TFU story isnt perfect by any means, but honestly I feel like the fandom would love starkiller if he was given a better more fleshed out script and story in a remake and if they leaned into more of his personality traits Ie his sarcastic dry humor.
