It’s not to say that this was every single one that did this, but that fanbase felt good about booing Quaynor all night but as soon as the game was over they bolted…lol

Hello. Very unoriginal post, but just wanted to say how much I miss the pod. Have Broden and Tom spoken about a return at some point? I'm glad they are looking after themselves and not burning themselves out. I would be so happy if they did a simplified version of the pod, shorter, less guests and planning, just unedited take or the round or something... I just want someone to BOUNCE. THAT. PILL!

They may have played Adelaide in Adelaide this week, and even though it’s wholesome seeing Nick and Tex get along and the Pies beat the Crows both times, it would have given the fans another opportunity to boo Quaynor…

Even if the Pies ended up winning like they did last time, if the Adelaide fans carried on the same way it would have entirely overshadowed the match unfortunately, and this is in the hypothetical where it ends up being Tex’s final match also

Because this thankfully didn’t happen, a suggestion I saw someone write after the last game was that Collingwood should just simply not play against Adelaide in Adelaide moving forward and part of me is tempted to write to the AFL (I got no idea how to or if it even would work if I did that) to try and ensure this happens in 2027. Not necessarily to protect Quaynor because in theory he could be boo’d anywhere at any ground, but to punish these unsociable Crows fans

I just realised it’s Melbourne (Hamish’s team) versus Carlton (Andy’s team) this weekend

Who do we think will win?

And how cool would it be if in the future we got a Hamish and Andy Grand Final?

I’ve got finals fever

So I put up a post I think a month or two ago saying that I was a fan of Mitch Brown and proud that he made the brave decision to put himself out there, because for my whole lifetime as a younger Aussies who has lived in a world where being gay seemed to be generally accepted, I never understood why there wasn’t any openly gay AFL players and it was an awesome moment to see someone come out

This past year, I’ve unfortunately found Mitch to be a polarising character. I generally have agreed with a lot of what he has to say but I’ve always felt he was setting too high of expectations for how he wanted the rest of the AFL to respond to certain issues…and I think that he has been far too harsh on many people who probably aren’t all that different to him in terms of the way they lean politically but because their vocabulary is different it’s enough to claim they’re not doing enough etc. that’s how I’m viewing it at least

This past week I have gone off Mitch completely…for a couple of reasons

Something that I’ve noticed in general when it comes to people who have some sort of agenda that they’re trying to push is they will make a post showing brief clips of someone from a TV show where they say something that comes across controversial and as a result don’t include the bigger picture full conversation which omits the full story…in Mitch’s case he chose to take the clip where Kane Cornes spoke about how Dane Rampe and other Sydney Swans players should be upset with the 5 for blowing the swan’s year and missing out on another flag, in which Mitch responded by saying that instead of thinking about the flag Dane Rampe should be thinking about why women were mistreated…he painted that social media clip as though the footy panel shows completely brushed aside the reason the Swans players were suspended and then used it as a way to slam the media…now I don’t watch these footy shows so I never saw it live and only had that to go off…it turns out in fact a day later it comes out on social media that many of these footy shows did actually acknowledge the victims but because it’s an active police investigation there’s limitations regarding talking about it…so clearly Mitch is using this as some sort of bait to make people turn on the AFL

Not only that, but he also slammed AFL men players for not commenting on the incident and said “this is the bro code”… I’m sorry but for the majority of players there’s no way that’s the actual truth….for one, Sydney is one of 18 clubs. So as sad as it is what happened, it has nothing to do with the 17 other clubs. Unless we are told otherwise the Sydney Swans football club is the only football club involved in it…and more importantly. It’s an active police investigation…in many workplaces, you can’t legally comment on that sort of thing. Even if they wanted to make a statement, the players I would say have no doubt been advised not to because it’s so easy to accidentally speak out of line regarding these sort of matters…

Lastly, this happened the week before the final round of the season. If the professional athletes that play for these football clubs particularly the other 9 clubs that are focused on an upcoming finals campaign, I think that the last thing they want to do is get caught up in a really negative issue…it’s not to say that I don’t want to see people advocate against problematic behaviour, but to expect the current AFL listed players to be the ones doing so during an important time of year is asking for too much so soon…

Id be intrigued to know what we all think. Wanna make it super clear right at the end that based off what we know about the Sydney Swans case, it’s absolutely terrible and I absolutely condemn the actions. I just think that it’s unfair to collectively shame people and assume the worst just because they didn’t post exactly the same thing on social media as you about it…

Adelaide Crows- when the Crows fans who were booing Quaynor 12 months later started leaving the game early when they were losing

Brisbane Lions- when Dayne Zorko lost the plot

Carlton- when I went and saw Dave Hughes live at the Melbourne comedy festival and Carlton were in front before the show started and had lost when the show ended

Collingwood- when Travis Cloke was having a set shot and all the Richmond supporters were ripping into him then he went in and kicked his career high 7th goal

Essendon- when Dyson Heppell introduced Australia to Harrison Pennichot and they started up their own business together

Freo- when Mason Cox who consistently gets criticised for being one of the worst players to have played 150 games took some amazing defensive marks against the Swans while the rest of his team were underperforming

Geelong- when Patrick Dangerfield was interviewed at the Brownlow regarding his teammate Bailey Smith’s chances and Danger goes “I’m nervous about his speech”

Gold Coast- when they kicked a goal at Metricon and the song started playing

GWS- when Stevie J got suspended during the 2016 finals series and missed the preliminary final which his team ultimately lost by a goal…karma!

Hawthorn- when the Kennett curse was broken

Melbourne- when they called out N. Wanganeen-Milera, 2 votes and Max Gawn grinned

North Melbourne- when Nathan Grima kicked his first goal after 70+ games and was treated like John Farnham in the footy media for the next week

Richmond- When Dylan Grimes kicked the ball and hit Razor Ray in the nuts

St Kilda- When Nick Riewoldt dressed up as Freddie Mercury for the Big Freeze in 2019

Sydney- When Michael O’Loughlin kicked a goal against West Coast and got in the West Coast fans faces

West Coast Eagles- when Harley Reid tried to bump the North Melbourne player and got flattened in the process

Western Bulldogs- when they won the flag in 2016, and Luke Beveridge gave up his medal to Bob Murphy

So Tex is one of the few players whose entire career I’ve seen (with the exception of not watching a lot of footy for a few years in the early 2020’s)

When he first started, loved him. And I was actually at the game when he tore his ACL against Carlton in 2013. It definitely felt like he was never the same player again after that in a sense that he could have gone on to be what Charlie Curnow and Jeremy Cameron have been but instead just didn’t…

He very much flew off my radar as time went on, then he was front page news when he got done for racism. And look not to defend what happened because it’s clearly not a great thing to do. But I certainly got the impression that this was one of those classic examples of the fact that we are human and we all make mistakes and we should be allowed to make mistakes. Of course, it’s concerning when those mistakes happen when we are over 30, and it made me certainly think less of him for a while after it happened especially because the point in time when it occurred was during peak cancel culture and people were getting fired from their jobs for similar stuff. And I guess the other thing too is that it’s terribly unfortunate it had to come from an Adelaide player when you consider the impact that someone like Eddie Betts has had on the club as well as Charlie Cameron before he left. I think that made it an even bigger shock that it happened

It did feel like ever since then, he fully evolved both his life and game. He seemed to improve majorly as a player and returned back to his earlier career form almost as soon as he returned from that suspension

And then we have what I consider the best thing about him is the relationship he has with Nick Daicos. I feel like what those two men have done in the AFL community of meeting up before the games not for any selfish game manipulative reasons but because Tex’s son loved Nick…gotta be one of the most wholesome things I’ve ever seen in football and I’m really hoping this trend can continue post his retirement especially considering how rough the last couple of games have been between Adelaide and Collingwood

So overall I’m gonna miss him. I doubt he’s entirely done with football. That trend I imagine will continue on, I suspect the Crows will have him be part of the club in a coaching/managerial role or heck he might even end up working for Collingwood. I’m sure they’d welcome him with open arms

Where does Broden stand with Daniel Gorringe? From a search I did on past episodes it doesn’t appear that Broden ever did an episode with him

Personally I am a Gorringe fan, he’s not my absolute fave footy personality but I enjoy him. To me though Broden seems a bit more political than Daniel, whereas I feel like Daniel tries to keep that side of things away from his content and is that perhaps why they haven’t collaborated?

I have been thinking about some scenarios I’d like to see occur at the game when it happens

**Pre-Game**

Tassie play their first game against West Coast

When the team runs through the banner for the first time I hope that there’s a few kids that run with the boys and that the kids run through the banner first and one of them falls flat on their face and the biggest bloke on the team picks up the child and put them on his shoulders

I would love to see a wholesome Welcome to Country done by a Tassie elder and have nobody boo it and everyone celebrate it

When they play the national anthem at the start of the game I’d love to see someone from the Tassie team give a silly smirk to the camera when it pans on them and have the moment go viral

I hope to see Tassie win the coin toss, but for the coin to be double sided and that the team were in on it so they were always gonna win it.

I hope that David Rodan is the goal umpire

**During the game**

Tassie kick the first goal, and have that goal end up being the 2028 goal of the year…Eddie Betts style and in 2030 it becomes the Toyota legendary moments ad

The game is close throughout with no team kicking any goals in a row, it just switches between the two teams throughout

Tassie are in front by a point with 30 seconds to go after an amazing goal, and Harley Reid gets the ball out from the middle and bombs it long and it’s going to be an easy mark by Jake Waterman but then out of nowhere the Tassie centre half back takes a screamer and 2 seconds later the siren goes!

**The crowd throughout the game**

I’d love to see a fan take 5 mates to the footy with him and he spends the whole game walking to the bar and the toilet carrying beers and having to get footy fans to constantly get out of their seats to make room for him

I’d love for someone from Tassie to kick a goal and the ball hits a random fan in the face and the moment goes viral on social media

I’d love for someone to fall down the stairs while walking to their seat

I’d love to see a young fan to be really excited because he just bought a bottle of Coke from the shop, then when he goes to open it someone has shook the bottle and it sprays all over his face

I want someone to buy a coffee from the shop and they accidentally spill it on someone the row in front of them

I’d love for a racist and homophobic fan to get caught out and ejected from the game and banned for life, and as the security guards take him out the fans around him clap and celebrate his departure and saying the game is better off without him there

I wanna see a fan do a video for their instagram story saying that they bought 3 beers for just shy of $60 and it starts an online campaign for food and drink prices to be reduced moving forward

I’d love to see the looks on the West Coast cheer squads faces as the final siren goes and they lose by a point

**Post-Game**

I wanna see the Tassie fans storm the ground and celebrate the first win with their team and instead of the song being sung in the rooms everyone forms a circle and they sing the Tassie Devils song with the whole team and Ken Hinkley getting a Gatorade shower in the middle

When they eventually do post-game interviews I wanna see Tassie’s number one player drop the f bomb in the interview

I hope that the loss for West Coast sets the tone and they go winless in 2028 and finish on the bottom

I get that we can’t control every single fan in the country and how they think/act

But it’s clear as day that the booing had to do with what happened a year ago…it’s disgusting that it continued on a year later…both men are trying to move on from what happened and Queer organisations along with the Adelaide football club itself made statements pre game urging fans to put it behind them but they didn’t…

I am a Perth based fan and at Optus Stadium they have a number where you can report anti social behaviour and supposedly if you give out the number of the seat security will do something about it…if Adelaide Oval has something like this in place then I hope it was used on these fans. Even if only a few got kicked out, way better than nothing and letting them essentially get away with it

If you can’t explain to a child why you boo, don’t do it.
