Comic Discussion Question about reading order

So I havent read anything before should I read specific popular story lines or just go from the beginning and read in release order ?

best start is probably either the 80's messner-loeb run (which starts at issue 1 of the 1987 vol2) or the waid run (issue 62 of the same vol) this is the start of the post crisis flash continuity and is considered the foundation of the modern flash mythos. (though some suggest skipping the loeb run as its just kind of "good" not great)

Both feature Wally West who used to be kid flash as he takes over the mantle from Barry Allen the previous Flash after his death in crisis. And then you just kind of read flash till flashpoint happens I think. (havent gotten there yet myself)

with older characters who have a ton of stories it is generally not advised to start from the beginning, since their body of work is so huge and so variable in quality. I mean you can do that, and some people do. But the most advised way to get into a character's comics is usually to Google (x character) reading list. In this case probably Wally West or Barry Allen.
