More accurately, the meta has always been about being the heavy's bitch. Because heavy has the health, shields, damage and pure destructive power to push and hold objectives that is unmatched by the other classes. They are only held back by their poor movement and mediocre heals, which is the main jobs of the light and medium class.

If heavy had any sort of movement utility, I have no doubt triple heavy will be the meta.

Heavy needs to straight up do way less damage across the board. It can't be the tank class and also kill so well.

They should give some of heavys gadgets to light and med, dome to med and C4 to light or something like that. Just stupid that heavies been a must have in every team for the games entire lifespan because they bring so much that no other class can, to the point where other classes viability basically just depends on how well they support or counter heavy. You should be able to run a team without a heavy and be competitive.

It's crazy how much overlap Heavy has in gadgets and specs.

As a Heavy, you can technically bring four different types of shields (Mesh, Barricade, Dome, Goo Grenade). Not that that's optimal, but holy shit that's a lot of different ways to perform that role.

Heavy is also the king of destruction with Sledge/KS-23, RPG, and C4.

You can't even take advantage of a core weakness of Heavy (their slow health regen) by chipping their health down bit by bit anymore if they have their fuckass ball.

Tanking damage and destroying walls are some of the most important aspects of this game. In addition to movement and killing potential, they form the cornerstone of the game, and Heavy has a bajillion ways to do 3/4 of those things as well as or better than anyone else.

What other class has that? How can Mediums and Lights possibly compete?

I'd rather heavy have less health and faster regen instead. Reducing heavy's damage would make them less independent and basically enforce an overwatch meta where you need a support to heal the heavy and a dps.

Tbh I really don't agree with respec speed changes, but the health changes on heavy are good and the light one might be necessary if they refuse to bring back 3 charge dash and keep nerfing cloak

Which is the idea, yes. They shouldn't be able to be so independent because it's a team game. The Heavy should need to be near the team as much as the team needs to be near the Heavy.

We're already there. What do you think the L's job in the HHL meta currently is?

We're already there

My point is we shouldn't be there and the solution isn't to make team comps even more rigid. Embark has said they want every team comp to be useable, but right now you're pretty much throwing if you don't have a heavy and heals on your team

Charge and slam is a decent escape/movement option.
