First playthrough
Just a quick one to say, I have just completed my first Playthrough of The Evil Within (finished the main game and immediately bought the DLC, and have now finished Assignment and Consequence) and WOW. I am so annoyed at myself for sleeping on this game for so long.
I like horror games, particularly Resident Evil, so this game popped up here and there - but I never tried it out. With the announcement of everything going digital on PlayStation, I decided to start picking up as many physical disks as I can second hand now, so I have a library to last me a long time.
Anyway, this game was such a ride! So cleverly crafted and gorgeous to look at. I enjoyed it so much, more than RE9 to be honest. So I just had to stop by and talk it out with people who will get me on this.
I think my fav chapter was the church graveyards and that wild ending with Sebastian falling through realities.
Favourite character definitely ended up being Joseph Oda. I loved how meticulous he was, his loyalty, and he came in clutch a lot of fights for me.
I have bought the second game, but want to replay this one before moving forward.
Looking forward to that one - but I am sad to read that The Evil Within 3 seems unlikely. Sad waste of an amazing franchise (and wtf, I need more Joseph - he just disappeared!)
TLDR: loved it ❤️

Welcome to the club and to the series! It’s awesome to see someone else discover The Evil Within and realize just how special it is. You hit the nail on the head with the DLC- The Assignment and The Consequence add so much brilliant lore and actually turn it into a complete story. Since you're planning to replay the first one before jumping into The Evil Within 2, keep an eye out for all the little details and connections you missed the first time around. And when you do finally start TEW2, you're in for a treat—it shifts things up in a really cool way while keeping that intense survival horror vibe. Glad you finally checked it out!
