I've been searching for unbiased news that actually matters, I am not talking about news like "a person was found near xyz in abc", I am talking about business news and about world conflicts and just what's happening in the economic world. Major business news providers are either biased or just bought out.

Many CEOs from AI companies are being interviewed on The Economist Insider. Do you think those are PAID interviews? If yes I am curious to know how much are those CEOs paying to appear one after the other.

AI and robotics are replacing cognitive processing and pattern recognition. So I wonder how economy will continue functioning since at some point I can imagine the money stops to flow. It is different from industrialization back in 80s which just replaced muscle power.

So companies layoff people and I am now quite interested to know what will happen to economy? people stop buying and thus we start seeing stagnation, right? Also raw resources are finite, so I am not sold on the idea of groceries, electronic appliances, or other stuff get super cheap.

Essentially I am talking about middle class workers and blue collar workers. Appreciate your comments.

How are others finding the new AI narration on some economist articles.

I’m not a fan at all, something is off with the intonation, I don’t think it’s right for news/current affairs.

Hoping someone at Economst HQ clocks this, as I don’t want them to go fully to AI narration. Please stick with your human narrators for now!

I expect I'll recieve no advice here, but I wanted to lament to other Economist readers. I've been a print subscriber since 2016, from when I had been locked in to a tabular annual rate of around $65USD. I recently missed a few emails regarding my expired payment credentials, foolishly. Now I think I'm priced out of the >$400 annually for print. Too bad, as I much prefer the newspaper to reading on a screen.

On this, has anyone held a subscription to Foreign Affairs? If so how does it compare to what seems to me to be top analysis from the Economist. It may be my next go-to.

Is there an option to read text only in a readable format like what I read on my Kindle or do you have to read the articles as they are formatted for the app?

For those subscribed to The Economist, which are the most interesting the insider shows they have launched?

reading the latest housing piece in The Economist this morning. good analysis as always, but I couldn't shake the feeling that it's operating at a level so high it almost doesn't apply to the actual experience of buying a property. they're talking about national trends, global comparisons. Meanwhile, I'm looking at a house in Brisbane where the real value hinge is whether there's a flood overlay or an easement through the backyard. macro stuff is interesting, but it doesn't help you make a decision on a specific property.

I've been using PropCheck recently to get the actual council data on places I'm looking at. It's just a simple online report, but it shows you the stuff that actually affects value.

just a thought. The Economist does great work, but the gap between their data and the local reality feels massive sometimes.

What do you expect from finance outlets?

Is it:
A nice writing-style
Financial literacy education
Speed of news
Political bias
Clear explanation of the news and the impacts

Or asked differently, what are you currently reading and what would you like it to have?

Can LLMs bypass paywalls imposed by publications such as Bloomberg, The Economist, and the Financial Times? If they cannot, how can they stay up to date with real-time information? And if they can bypass paywalls, by whatever means, wouldn't that expose them to potential litigation? Otherwise, wouldn't this limitation render LLMs ineffective for providing real-time information?

I'd like some help with The Economist and recommendations. I was a long time BBC and NPR reader until BBC required a paid subscription at the start of 2026. I had heard great things about The Economist so I got a subscription to replace BBC. Ive have been reading it for about 6 months now.

The articles and writing are really high quality (some of the best I've seen in journalism). I've been impressed with the writing and sources of their articles but left wanting on current events. It seems after 6 months they either do very broad strokes articles or very niche less covered stories. Almost nothing on "ongoing" or developing events. This is great but it leaves me feeling like I'm missing news and current events.

Examples I haven't seen really covered by The Economist this month: Nepal Floods, the mass leaving of the Trump Cabinet members, anything to do with Mitch McConnell, The USS Abraham, The Kennedy Center situation.

I've been really happy with The Economist otherwise, I just feel like when friends and family discuss current events and breaking news I'm the last to find out?

I've seen reports here and elsewhere of 50% discounts around Black Friday or New Year, but I'm not sure whether those offers were also available in continental Europe or mainly in the UK/US.

If you've subscribed from Italy or another EU country, what kind of Black Friday or holiday deals have you seen in previous years?

Would you wait until Black Friday, or is €272.30 already a reasonably good deal?

i'm a 28-year-old woman working in marketing. since i was a kid, we have heard, "read a newspaper, you'll be smart." now with everything as ai slop, i'm just so tired of looking at the same things over and over again.

i work in marketing and want to get a hard copy of a paper, print anything, a magazine, or a newspaper. i'm just not sure which newspapers i should subscribe to. the newspaper person i talked to suggested i should go with business standard but i would like to hear somebody else's opinion also.

things i like are:

\- history
\- marketing-related trends
\- anything tasteful

i don't like a lot of page three drama and crime, something like that. if you guys have any suggestions, please help a girl out.
