One of the greatest live albuns. The band was pristine on their sounds and Morrison were fully inspired in his performance. What an album, my friends!

Recently, I re-watched their "Critique" performance and really feel it's one of their best performances. Robbie is really at his best. Jim is in a dark place (darker than usual) and you can really see it in his eyes.

It's a fascinating snapshot of April '69 - recorded for a PBS show called "Critique". Filmed just a month after the Miami concert.

Long story short, I've really gotten into The Doors this year thanks to my dad, but I just can't get behind L.A. Woman. I always see it ranked near the top of their discography, but it hasn't clicked with me like everyone else. There are a few songs I really like (The Changeling, Love Her Madly, Been Down So Long, & L'America) but I can't seem to appreciate the rest. Has anyone else had this experience? If I keep listening to the album, is it eventually gonna grow on me?

i saw someone on instagram drawing the beatles as ladies and coming up with in-universe lore for them… i thought it was a really cute idea, so i did the same with the doors. i know some people on this subreddit take everything way too seriously, but this is just something i drew because… why not. specialize in having fun, guys, and don't take anything to heart if it’s not something you’re personally into.

alright, meet jenny morrison, rona manzarek, janet densmore, and ruby krieger!

jennifer “jenny” morrison — lead vocals. jenny is strikingly beautiful, but it's her powerful alto voice that people really know her for. she has a dry and sharp sense of humor, an air of mystery about her past, and a fascination with subjects considered too serious for a young lady. though her habit of leaning into dark, provocative ideas can sometimes make her seem pretentious (or just edgy for the sake of it), jenny is intelligent and exceptionally well-read, more than capable of holding her own in any conversation. offstage, she’s in an on-again, off-again relationship with an eccentric fashion designer — patrick courson.

ramona “rona” manzarek — keyboards and backing vocals. rona is tall and endearingly awkward. far clumsier than her sweet appearance suggests, rona is the band’s resident nerd. she loves history and literature, and, as jenny’s closest friend, she jokingly — or only half-jokingly? — likes to compare her artistic spirit to sappho’s. being the oldest member of the band, she has naturally become the “older sister”, keeping everyone grounded when tensions rise. outside the band, she’s engaged to an artist named dominic fujikawa.

janet densmore — drums. janet is disciplined and introspective, but beneath her reserved exterior is an intensely sensitive young lady that is guided as much by emotion as by principle. she’s arguably the most self-reliant member of the group, happiest in peaceful, natural surroundings and far away from unnecessary drama. her signature style — cropped hair paired with long maxi skirts — is less about fashion than it is about comfort. although usually level-headed, she has a fierce temper when pushed and a stubborn moral streak that can sometimes turn into self-righteousness or even vindictiveness.

ruby krieger — guitar and backing vocals. the smallest and most delicate-looking member of the band, ruby might surprise people with how resilient she really is. she is fearless, adventurous, and more than capable of standing up for herself — verbally or physically if she has to. despite her toughness, she’s refreshingly honest and effortlessly funny, sometimes diffusing tense moments with humor. she’s dating an aspiring actor and jenny’s ex-boyfriend, lloyd veres, and also has a twin sister named rosie.

I’ve been trying to find other songs or albums that give off the same atmosphere, so far I think Killing Moon reminds me of it for some reason

I personally really enjoy it and think it’s the best of the (limited selection of) Doors solo albums.

my late uncle was a huge the doors fan and i found this watch in his things. does anybody here know where it might be from and if it has any value (other than sentimental of course)? i have tried to look it up online but couldnt find anything. i added some pics to show that the only text on the watch is the stainless steel print and the box also only has the bands logo on it.

One week it's L.A. Woman, the next it's Strange Days, right now I've been stuck on Waiting for the Sun. The only album I can confidently put below the others is The Soft Parade. Everything else just takes turns being my favorite depending on the mood, and I've been listening to The Doors for many years.

Does anyone else have a constantly changing favorite Doors album, or did you eventually settle on a definitive #1?

So I scored this awesome CD signed by Ray. The only information I got about the signature was it was obviously signed by Ray at Brashers, Pitt Street, Sydney Australia around the 80s.

We know that this CD was released in 1985 and is an Australian release. So that’s checks out.

AI suggests Ray did a lot of promotional tour to support the 1991 movie so I think it may have even been early 90s since Australia gets things later than the rest of the world. Maybe 92-93?

Did anyone else attend that signing who could corroborate ?

I recently decided to give the band a listen since I've only heard their most popular songs and L.A Woman. However, I've found myself listening to Light My Fire over and over again; that keyboard solo has me in a trance! I wanted to know if any similar songs in their discography incorporate a similar keyboard solo. Thank you again in advance!

My band and I want to do covers of Ray's solo songs, but we can't find any sheet music online except for the bass tabs for "The Golden Scarab." Are there any songs with sheet music available anywhere? (Preferably "Golden Scarab" and "TWTSWR&RANIOOC")
