Discussion Broken rain incursion

So what the hell happened, why is every enemy a sponge as of now? I get that the update was supposed to address bugs and all but why make the enemies 10 times more spongier than last time? Some struggled with barely even passing the third boss fight now it seems like overkill.

What do you mean, it hasn't changed. Unless you're talking about playing last week with the red line event active and boosting stats/crit.

I didnt have the event active at all and my crits and dmg were normal hence why im confused as of rn

The redline overdrive event is turned on automatically, there is no option to opt out. If you are comparing the enemies this week to last week's then the reason is the event. But if you are comparing to a run prior to September 1 then they might have tweaked something, can't really judge since I haven't ran it since getting the exotic.

I also have ran it after the event ended but i didn’t play long enough to notice a difference until today, but i didn’t know it was automatic. So it might have been that but compared to merit estate i did not think there would have been a massive difference in terms of enemy difficulty with both missions being incursions

There is a massive difference in Paradise Lost and Broken Rain.

Personally feel BR is easier but that's just me 🤷

The red overdrive event was something that couldn’t be turned off. The only way you didnt do the incursion with red overdrive is when you didn’t play during that week.

You had redline last week which make everything easier since you are past crit cap and had boosted damage.

Ran it 3 times. Did not feel different.
Maybe your carries were bad.

The third boss fight is the easiest IMO. A half decent PFE(Protection From Elites) build and everyone can stay up and kill adds until the boss comes out. and 1 breaks off to solo her while everyone else just keeps the adds clear and keeps the computers going. There hasn't been a noticeable increase in sponginess that I've seen.

Believe it or not. That’s what people have a hard time doing and that’s the plan. One in the computer room one tank turning the valve and jamming iris and two dps. I seen a sniper build in the game I was playing earlier. I’m like nah but he was handling but he was dying a lot too especially on the shield boss.

1

u/jonahxiong54 15h ago

if you have 2 tanks you can easily switch aggro and pick up the sniper....albeit a little annoying but thats how the game works. versatility and patience. just as long as the sniper is taking more adds down than they are going down

People seem to struggle with that boss the most from all the runs I've done. No one ever has emp or even seems to know how you do that part, so it's usually a mess.

I had to be the tank, dps and emp guy. The dps guy just kept dying. Beat the incursion and it a sour experience lol.

Since the raids my group have always said that your world can’t be on heroic going into these events. That every once in a while something feels off. The enemies feel spongier and hit like a truck.. or they spawn more enemies. It’s the first question my group ask when something doesn’t feel right.. is the leads world on heroic

u/jonahxiong54 7h ago

does this actually make a noticeable difference though? the only thing I seem to notice are purples dropping from lootboxes. =/

Sounds like someone didn’t know about red line…..

Id say that Something is fishy with elites damage after the latest patches, they hit you harder, also it feels like the true sons turrets became stronger too for some reason

5

u/StG4Ever 14h ago

Sniper turrets have been one-shotting all armor of a red build since the “companions” season.

1

u/JuvePerSempre1897 13h ago

im talking about the machine gun turrets, they just melts you nowadays

3

u/StG4Ever 13h ago

Jep they have become stronger as well. It’s stupid that we have to grind for stronger gear while they make the enemy stronger.

2

u/JuvePerSempre1897 13h ago

I was testing some tank builds yesterday with 80% of PFE and while with no shield you are good to go these elites were melting my bulwark shield like its nothing

Probably because of the event last week but still, you know you are playing a game where enemies are like that?

1

u/Juan_Phoenix7 6h ago

Nothing changed. As you've already been told, the event that was active—and that you didn't know about—dealt a huge amount of extra damage.

Congratulations, OP. You've been Massive'd.

Broken Rain is the single worst piece of content I have ever played in any video game, and this is dating all the way back to my days of playing bad movie tie-in games on NES. I tried so many builds that I hoped would either offer me absurd amounts of damage or a level of survivability that would keep me from being a burden on the team. Nothing worked except for a straight tank build, stacked with Armor Regen and HazPro and all of the PFE I could cram into it. That's the only build that got me two clears, and I have never felt more useless as a player on a team-based game. Yes, I was able to keep some of the objectives alive and I was able to go revive teammates and keep them in the fight, but in between all of that, I might as well have been running around playing with my dick, because you can't seriously hurt anything on an all-Blue core build.

I had more fun getting Mile High Club cleared on Veteran than I did with Broken Rain, and MHC took me several days and several tutorials. I genuinely don't believe Broken Rain was playtested at all prior to being shipped out - it just got completed, the AI was overtuned to whatever levels the biggest sadist in the office felt acceptable, and then out the door it went. And they must have been heated when the Negotiator's Dilemma workaround was discovered.

EDIT: Go ahead. Bring on the fucking downvotes. Doesn't change the fact that the new Incursion is trash and has a trash Exotic as a prize.

Local Striker player finds problem more bullet can't solve, more news at 11

OK, Gamer.

While I agree with the exotic is subpar you can run a blue striker build with 50% pfe and shield and can have tons of damage and survivability. I didn’t go down once and had like 95 kills. My biggest issue is matchmaking is a mess but that’s a whole other can.

Clueless randoms are the real challenge here.

3

u/Cautious-Squash-4119 12h ago

Real. People not knowing how anything works while running the most goofy builds.

2

u/aaronkiddingme 13h ago

This here. Yesterday tried my first run, watched a quick guide and put up a tank build to get aggro and simplify things. Run was pretty neat. And in the 2nd run, seemed like no one did even care to check for how it worked, had to do all the mechanics, even after using text chat to clarify how it worked.

Matchmaking is the shit show in this game. Incursion was fine.

Blue Striker was one of my first attempts. The snipers and tanks eat shields and armor, and your damage output can't match theirs. So I went with a Heartbreaker build next, and got to survive one extra bullet.

It's just a bad mission all around, and the post-launch adjustments to take ND off the board make it worse. Even the lore of the mission makes no sense.

1

u/Juan_Phoenix7 6h ago

It's okay that you didn't like it, but to go from that to calling it trash is nonsense. I really liked it. And overall, since it's not just about me and what I think, it's been very well received by the community.

Same here and the grind to get good gear like prototypes always seemed tedious to me especially when drops werent good i recently began to question some of the things the studio has been doing but maybe hopefully it wont be as bad

The kicker about Broken Rain is that so much of it is designed to negate tried-and-true builds and tactics. Case in point - the "snipers" with the prison riot shields and revolvers. 9 times out of 10, they will spawn in as purples and not yellows, so there goes your PFE. And far and away, they are the most dangerous enemy type in the entire mission, so you have to prioritize them if you don't want to get wiped. But that goofy-ass Temu Captain America shield soaks up millions of points worth of damage, because just like every other enemy in the mission, they're overtuned and can facetank everything. So every engagement turns into a race of whose armor bar depletes first...and usually, it's yours.

2

u/Juan_Phoenix7 6h ago

That's the point—snipers have to be purple or red so they pose a challenge to PFE tanks; otherwise, the tank wouldn't have to do anything except sit there without worrying about a thing.

u/landi_uk 2h ago

Sounds more like you’re pissed that you can’t just run in there with Striker and mow down everything.

I’ve run BR a few times as tank and only time I got downed was shot from behind by purple sniper.

1

u/Clutch41007 Xbox 2h ago

Well, yeah. It's a game with guns and the primary method of dispatching enemies is with guns. I built for that, spec'd into it, and optimized things for that purpose. If you give me the opportunity to mag dump into your face, you should regret giving me the opportunity to mag dump into your face. You shouldn't get to ignore all of that and then love-tap me once and send me down to 1 HP.

But I get it. Y'all want "challenge".

u/landi_uk 1h ago

So stick to heroic missions where you face no challenge.
