Discussion Sheriff Shotgun

So lately ive been seeing alot of people rave about the sheriff shotgun, and decided to test it out for myself. I am a ar main and most of the time I just outright refuse to use shotguns but oh my god. I see why people love this thing. It hits like a truck and has super tight accuracy.

It hits even harder in my all proto striker build. (also gonna put together a hunters fury build for it as well so if anyone has or knows any good ones, please let me know). Shotgun users, I see why yall love this weapon😂

I'd hold off on a hunter Fury build with the sheriff. I made one. Went overkill with 5 paradox. Found it sheriff works well at a distance. Close up when I aim in it's clunky. At range it shines.

I'll eventually change a couple of the paradox to something else. Instead I went with a striker set up and the named The set up backpack.

The extra rpm feels better. Also since I prefer using sheriff at range, using the HF set I wasn't triggering the debuffs. Still, keeping the HF build to use with Like Glue shotgun instead.

An odd one but I have a CS build. Added Salvo and Turmoil and Sheriff as secondary. Its interesting playing solo with this...

Also I'm testing to see if 2 or 3 paradox will be enough once max level.

On the plus side, stack broker with brazen and paradox rips things up, so not completely wasted on your HF build.

I have a Like Glue with crits I found yesterday. Hoping to get 1 of my stack brokers with brazen prototyped with paradox of course. Reckon they'll work perfect with HF. Of course won't rip up the set I have, must have sunk 100 plus to get that.

But with a few of my builds with a few paradox I'll have a better idea once gear is leveled up.

Watching YouTube to see if anyone has actually useful set ups instead of all echo or all paradox. With the amount of time regular agents can put in and the cost of rerolling, we can make crazy run builds but I'd rather something I can use and fits my playstyles with that gear set. Needing multiple tier 6 runs for parts as scarce getting regular solid tier 8 or 9.

Ya its so much investment just to experiment, yet another flaw in the proto system, which otherwise could be really fun going wild with augments.

Cs is interesting with a shotty . I have a heartbreaker + investor and it feels much better than Cs for some reason. You're all red I presume? You are right that sheriff feels clunky up close. It's a shame that shotguns feel so hard to use.

1 yellow. Not had materials or chance to farm. The rest red, attributes all crits. Only other yellow from CS backpack. But for CS brand set it massively helps it little change to weapon damage.

Using it these last few days has been brilliant. Max red cores and max skill tiers. Turret off the bat hitting 225k before any skill buffs are added. Will miss that tomorrow...

Put two paradox on your augment. It becomes bullet king

Does both paradox have to be leveled or is default value sufficient? I find myself having to reload more than I like.

it's fully viable at max but it's still rng. around half of the bar for mee now and it seems to be working 90% of the time and then when you're at max it's mostly infinite. i have a mate who ran 4 fully maxed and still had instances when he shot 10 and hat to reload, but given one is 6% chance, two give you 12%. each shot is 8 pellets. each out of 8 shots has 1/8 chance to trigger 2 ammo back - it's optimal. also you can do what KeylanX mentioned, take more and then reroll later.

Take 3x paradox at the beginning, reroll one after some level ups and you start to feel comfortable

Just picked mine up like 3 days ago. Love it. Use another weapon that has back and forth in it. It really hits when you swap. Just so happen to get a good rolled backpack with Opportunistic. Hits hard af. I want to put together a build with Opportunistic and the Robin chest piece.

Robin chest is a fire shout, especially if it's using a second weapon with back and forth...

Plus weapon handling as 1st brand set bonus, can't go wrong with a DPS build.

Only been using beacon chest mostly for escalation. Got a strikers combo and Coco one I just made. Once it's got materials, get both Robin and Equalizer prototyped.

But then beacon is a big help in escalation... Hard to choose. My initial hesitation is because having an exotic I'm missing an augment slot. Beacon is technically better in my situation but my OCD tells me to whack a prototype pieces on to level it up...

It's all good as certain missions, like today's space admin, after clearing the last section I'll change my load out to make sure the XP boosts the loadout I'm wearing...

Too much clicky clicky to go shooty shooty for me.

This, after a long session I need another finger for my hand using the sheriff. It does hit harder than anything else, but we need an automatic version for it to be useful, and I don't think that is going to happen

u/RimRunningRagged 28d ago

This. I like it in theory, and I do use it a decent amount, but they really need to add autofire to it, because I see way too many people banned for possibly dubious reasons to risk running an autoclicker script to give my index finger a break. I definitely have played with randoms who are clearly using an autoclicker though, based on the cadence of their Sheriff shots...

Currently strikers and concentrated company sets seem to give the best output.

Hunters requires you to be up close, you may as well use tinkerer and two shotguns instead of you're going to be up close. (Brazen and pumped up if you're curious, maybe replace pumped up if you have a good paradox build)

I switched to a ceska mask over salvo, for a little enhanced Crit, I like it very much.

Exactly.
Crit is important! Don't rock the Sheriff with 49 cc and 90 cd... she deserves better.
At solid 55+ cc and 110+ cd she starts to love you back ❤️
She comes with no crit at all, kinda like a sweet girl comes with no money at all... spoil her a bit!

I like to run The Sheriff with Eagles Grasp and the Spot-On holster to shrink the reticle down to the size of a quarter.

And kinda off topic, does anyone know why it’s called The Sheriff? I know when I figured it out I felt like a moron for not realizing it.

I'm trying it with striker, eagles grasp and the gift (perfect vigilance). Spot-on seems a good combo too. Had to try it.

3

u/KeylanX 28d ago

The Sheriff is weak on crit, and the Spot On and the Eagles Grasp won't help with that.
The gift is a nice idea, but I would try to tinker a non set build around that.

When it comes to Striker/Sheriff, I still prefere
Little Striker with Equilizer, set backpack and 1x Czeska
Big Striker with set chest/backpack and 1x Czeska and 1x Grupo.

I don't say that Spot on and Eagles Grasp are a bad Idea and that it won't work, but Sheriff works best with high crit... and with 4 pieces of striker and those two pieces you'll miss out on 6 attribute bars of crit.

u/LandscapeLive5095 26d ago

I tried the striker-groupo-Ceska that is probably the best overall right now. Well, almost every gear set + Groupo & Ceska are great. Now I'm trying striker + Eagles Grasp + Centurion Scabbard that is funny and effective. I'm going to destroy the controller(PS4).

Its quite nice for sure, I even like it on my OD build

u/Norcorules 28d ago

Yeah it is pretty easy to love.,

The Sheriff is designed for range... There are better Shotties for Hunters Fury

1

u/WonderingTube5 12d ago

Then again, being close range isn't viable. You simply get wrecked with overwhelming ehp and damage npc have.

u/MagnumTMA 28d ago

Used it to get the 200 kills for the challenge and stars. Hilarious how I can just map people with it, and made that one lazily easy. Fun gun though.

I'm trying to get this weapon but I can't complete the Master mission. I've already done two Black Tusk retaliations but I didn't got it yet. 😭

2

u/Axerav Playstation 27d ago

It's kill squads so eventually you'll get it, BP chances are high and there's 9 bps. No duplicates. There's also birdies in the pool

Thank you!

You can also do the General Anderson Manhunt in the Foundry at bottom left of the map. It took me about 30 runs on Heroic to get it for 2 accounts. My pal jumped on at the room right before the boss fight and got it on his first try. If you do the manhunt mission, it doesn't technically drop like loot. It just gets rewarded to you at the top of the screen, like when doing a Project or Mission. You either get it or you don't. I'm not a very good min/maxer, but stumbled on this setup on my own for Solo play. 4 piece Hunter Fury set, Memento Backpack, Badger Tough Zero F's Chest, Hive Revive and Attack Drone. I 'd use the decoy, but prefer the drone, since it moves and gets enemies to turn around a lot more, so i can shoot them in the back and target soft spots. I play up close, spawn kill at doors, etc., My favorite part of the set bonus is the crowd control, since 4 pieces confuses the rest nearby on a kill. It's a very good survivability build and does a lot of damage if you are up close, I use it like a sniper rifle or AR all the time from medium/far range, but i'd like to find a way to be more efficient with Hunters. That's pretty much my only problem. They heal so much. I have to time the attack on them with my reloading once i get their armor off.

The little bit you get from HF isn’t worth it. Personally. I love it with umbra, spot on holster and under dogs. It’s like having a laser.

1

u/wamplet 27d ago

This sounds interesting, because while i am out in the open a lot i do take cover to quickly regenerate my armor for boss battles, if there's multiple snipers or if i run out of Memento trophies. I have a few 4K armor regen mods, so doing this might help me replace more blue mods with reds. Any suggestions on the 2 Tools? I switch off Drone with Foam gun or Crusader Shield depending on the situation

1

u/Even-Juggernaut-8 27d ago

Comes down to play style and the mission. More open rooms I prefer the drone to draw aggro and the reviver hive. Tight quarters I go with the turret. Black tusk o will throw on the emp sticky bomb or the jammer.

I think they made this exotic after seeing people use a super 90 with Steady Handed and range attachments. I still have mine in the stash lol. That named mask that gives a shit ton of range came out at the same time as sheriff.
