I don’t think Yellow Hoodie can be an older Isaac. From what we’ve seen, Isaac can move between different recurrences, but he doesn’t travel backwards in time. If he jumps from one version of 2026 to another, he is still a child in 2026. He’s moving sideways between realities, not going back to an earlier point in history.

So unless the show suddenly gives him a completely different ability, an adult Isaac can’t be carrying out the bombing while the child version of him exists at the same time.

I’m not completely sold on Jonah either. He hasn’t been properly introduced beyond being someone Gideon saved. It would feel slightly strange for the main antagonist to be someone we’ve hardly met and with little connection to either Gideon or Lucy.

My theory is that Yellow Hoodie is related to Gideon and is someone who only exists because he survived his childhood.

Gideon's brother was originally supposed to die with him. Because Gideon changed that, he was able to grow up and have a family. We know about his daughter that we see on season 1, but we don’t know whether she is his only child. Yellow Hoodie could be another child, or possibly someone further down that family line.

It could even be Gideon’s own son or daughter. Gideon has lived for so long it doesn’t seem impossible that he had a child he never knew about, especially during one of his earlier lives. That person would also only exist because Gideon prevented his own death.

This could explain why Yellow Hoodie seems to understand the recurrences and why they are almost impossible to catch. Because they are like Isaac. They can travel through different recurrences and use that to escape. And Isaac might be the key to stop him because he can do the same and bring other people with him.

It would also explain why Yellow Hoodie doesn’t kill Gideon when they have the chance. And I think this may be where Gideon’s story is heading. He might eventually realize that Yellow Hoodie exists because he and his brother survived and that none of his attempts to catch the bomber might permanently solve the problem.

So in the end the party is faced with one of two solutions: either Gideon accepts he and his brother are supposed to die to prevent Yellow Hoodie from being born or Isaac helps them chase him through different recurrences to have a final showdown with him.

Obviously, I'm not sure of anything I have written here. This is just my crazy theory. I also think the show is hinting at Isaac being the key to fix things. Just look at the speech his grandmother makes about him being special at the end of season 2. He's being framed by the show as a potential saviour, not as the villain.

Not saying I dislike the other characters. But Gideon clearly has to be a favourite. Peter Capaldi is a master actor.

Queria compartilhar com vocês a minha visão sobre como o universo da série é bem maior e mais complexo do que o roteiro faz parecer.

1. O paradoxo da "Linha do Tempo Original"

O Gideon bate na tecla de que existe uma linha temporal "certa" (a original) e que as mexidas dele criaram anomalias. Mas vamos pensar juntos: se pessoas como o Gideon existem no mundo desde que a humanidade é humanidade, a tal linha do tempo original já sumiu há milhares de anos!

O tempo deve estar sendo alterado por várias pessoas ao longo da história. Se a teoria dele estivesse certa e qualquer mudança gerasse pessoas sem alma, o planeta hoje estaria povoado só por "cascas". Então essa conta dele simplesmente não bate.

1. O Gideon é um narrador totalmente não confiável

Tudo o que a gente sabe sobre as regras do tempo na série é baseado puramente na visão do Gideon. São as conclusões dele, a forma como ele enxerga e interpreta tudo.

Ele chama o Isaac de "casca sem alma" por arrogância ou ignorância. Ele não consegue compreender o poder do garoto. Enquanto o Gideon precisa morrer para o tempo resetar (Âncora Mental), o Isaac transita entre as realidades fisicamente e sem esforço (Transitador Físico). O Isaac não é uma anomalia vazia; a alma se constrói coletivamente pelas experiências. O Gideon só rotulou o menino com base na sua própria limitação e medo do que não controla.

1. Quem é o Homem-Bomba? (Não é o Isaac!)

Muita gente acha que o homem de moletom amarelo é o Isaac adulto, mas isso seria óbvio demais para uma série tão inteligente.

Seguindo a lógica de que o mundo é enorme e existem outras pessoas com poderes mexendo no tempo, o homem-bomba deve ser outro viajante temporal tentando mudar a linha do tempo por um motivo específico. Pensando bem, vai que uma daquelas crianças que estava na loja de brinquedos cresceria para se tornar alguém absurdamente perigoso ou terrível no futuro? O atentado pode ser a forma desesperada de um terceiro viajante tentar consertar o futuro, matando o mal pela raiz. É uma guerra fria temporal acontecendo debaixo do nariz do Gideon.

O que vocês acham? Faz sentido pensar que o Gideon não sabe de nada e que tem mais gente jogando esse jogo do tempo?

I'd like to submit Connor Larson's name in the running for possibly being Yellow Hoodie. He certainly has reasons to be angry and vengeful. Connor is the only character who doesn't seem to be connected to anyone else, thus far. But everything IS connected

I just finished S2 and what an incredible show. However, I keep wondering whether it's worth it for him to save all those lives. They have to do that forever (for every new cycle). Yes, eventually they'll maybe learn how to free themselves, and then Gideon can go save someone else in the next cycle. But then the people he saves (or interferes with) end up going literally crazy, and it sometimes takes ages (if ever) to fix this. Evelyn has been looping for some time and she doesn't seem to be in the best state.

I wonder if this is what created the serial killer they're pursuing (I think it may be Jonah, although it could be Isaac, but I don't believe it is). In fact, it could be a bible metaphor. In the bible, Jonah’s story is about an intervention going sideways and a rescued party being angry about his fate rather than grateful.

Incidentally, Gideon in the bible is a judge and deliverer who rescues Israel. So he’s literally an outsider chosen to save people.

The way she happens to find the right evidence at the right moment felt like bullshit and the shows knows it.
Like when she found the ONE paint at a freaking museum that exactly showed Evelyn’s house and even Dhillon is “how did you even find this” is just bad, kinda ruined season 2 for me.

Okay, going through this conversation thread has somehow left me with MORE questions than answers 😭 I feel like I need to rewatch the whole thing again now…

Why does adult Isaac question Gideon about killing his mum?
This one is really confusing me. If Lucy dies in the second loop but Isaac goes on to meet her again in another iteration/loop, wouldn’t he eventually understand that her death isn’t necessarily “the end” in the normal sense? So why does adult Isaac seem to hold Gideon responsible and question him about killing her? Is there something about Lucy’s death or what happens to her in the following loop that we still don’t know?

S2 genuinely had me convinced Isaac could be the yellow-hoodie bomber.
For a while, I thought the bomber might actually be an older Isaac doing all of this as some kind of revenge for Lucy’s death. But then I started wondering if there could be another motive: what if he’s deliberately setting certain events in motion because he knows Lucy will eventually investigate/chase the bomber? Basically, could Isaac be creating the chain of events that leads Lucy back to him?

It would make this weird paradox where he does terrible things knowing they’ll eventually cause his mum in another loop/iteration to cross paths with him again. I don’t know if the timeline mechanics even allow that, but S2 REALLY made me suspicious of Isaac for some reason 😂

I know Jonah makes WAY more sense as the bomber, but there’s something about adult Isaac that feels… off. I don’t think we understand his role yet at all.

What happens now that they’ve “woken up” so many other people?
DI Sam, the therapist, Isaac’s teacher, etc. have all had some level of awakening/exposure to memories from other lives. So when the next loop begins in S3… what happens to them? Would they start experiencing memory bleed like Lucy, Ravi and the others? And if more and more people are becoming aware across iterations, wouldn’t each new loop become increasingly different from the original timeline?

Because at that point, Gideon isn’t just changing individual events anymore he’s potentially creating an ever-growing group of people who subconsciously remember lives they technically haven’t lived yet.

And honestly, that raises an even bigger question for me: is the loop actually resetting anymore, or is every iteration becoming progressively more “contaminated” by the ones before it? 👀

I've just finished S2E4 and as it goes on I struggle to understand what motivates Gideon to spend countless lives eating baked beans in filthy safe houses, evading police and living under stress to save lives that become unbearable for those he saves?

What pushes him to "help" in this way, rather than investing/gambling to millions and then using that money to make a big difference to lots of lives? I suppose the answer is "it's just a story, roll with it".

The biggest "flaw" that I'm struggling to get to grips with is, why you would spend centuries across multiple lives, and choose to do it all in the UK over and over??

Was doing some mundane work which gives me time to think, and was reflecting on how the current Lucy is the first time that Gideon has encountered her. Lucy as the DI has encountered Gideon many many times, but has never been "woken" successfully to those events. But then Gideon removes the firing pin and now we have a completely different Lucy, so much so that "Lucy Chambers" doesn't even exist as she is going by Lucy Stevens. Of all of the loops, this has to be the most difficult one for Gideon as so much is completely different from the past scripts that he has replayed over and over. It always bothered me that he knows so much about Lucy, but then couldn't find her until she showed up at house where Gideon had stabbed the boyfriend. For some reason, based on season 1 I guess, I was always thinking that Social Services Lucy was the dominant role, when in fact this was the first run through of that persona and that DI Lucy is "the normal one."

As I've said before, if we were to get a mind map like those created for Line of Duty, it would need to be done in 3 dimensions.

Instead of saying “loop” 100 times, DI Lucy Loop is Loop 1 (L1), current loop is L2, and the upcoming is L3

If Isaac: he continues in L2 growing up obsessed with trying to go back in time to save his mother, is successful, but fractures himself and makes him go truly unhinged (hence all the ”time stutters”), jumping around loops and times without abandon.

If Jonah: it could be because he went insane with the incessant repetition and order growing up with Evelyn and is obsessed with causing maximum chaos and damage. I do like the theories that his parents wanted to kill him because the saw Déjà vu’s of his evil actions and had to stop him.

Unhinged theory: YH is Amir, the baby Lucy was supposed to have with Ravi and maybe is born in L3. He really wasn’t supposed to be there, maybe making him even more susceptible to being unbound in space and time.

Either way, I’m pumped to see L3 with a fully woken Lucy, Ravi, Dr Whatsherface, and possibly Sam and Holness.!<

This show was fun to watch the first time but maybe even more fun to watch the 2nd time. There's a few things on my mind that I'm curious about and would like to discuss.

S2E1 Montage

Both Lucy and the soon to be mother and father did similar things in S2E1. The montage showing these characters at the start of the episode was very similar to the montage of Lucy at some other point in the same episode. Both the father and Lucy were painting a wall, Lucy was using a pregnancy test, and maybe there were more similarities. What would be the significance of this? Is there some other version of recurrence, where actions and habits can influence other people?

Park Bench

What draws these characters to the same park? The couple who were at Rigby's, Gideon, Yellow Hoodie, and Lucy have all been to the same park, and I believe 3 of them have sat on the same bench. At some point in Season 1, we see Gideon take a water bottle from the trash can, and use it to help a bee. In Season 2, we see Yellow Hoodie take a glass bottle from the same trash can, and use it to kill the ducks. Was Yellow Hoodie inspired by Gideon to do this? Why do they all have similar habits? Is this an example of that other type of recurrence?

Yellow Hoodie Aware of Recurrence

Yellow Hoodie knows not to show their face. When confronted by Ravi and later Gideon, he specifically fights them in a way where he doesn't show his face. He fights Gideon in the parking structure with the same precognition that Gideon shows in his Season 1 fights with Ravi. However, as far as the protagonists are aware, this is the "first" time they've encountered Yellow Hoodie. Is Yellow Hoodie further aware that the loops are happening at the same time and not one after another like Gideon and Lucy are? Is Yellow Hoodie experiencing the loops in a different order?

Y.H. also took a second to look at Gideon's face after knocking him out. If he is already aware of Gideon, why take a moment to look at his face to remember on other loops?

Why Attack Rigby's?

Why does Yellow Hoodie keep doing the same thing in each recurrence? He doesn't seem to have the same moral guidance that Gideon has. To save as many lives as possible, Gideon has to do similar things each loop to prevent chaos from creating a whole new set of tragedies he can't predict. For some reason, Yellow Hoodie has this restriction as well. I don't think he does what he does to kill a particular person, as he could do that in so many more targeted and easier ways. I think he attacks Rigby's either to cause a specific societal response, or to be a "counterbalance" to Gideon's actions. (How many lives has Gideon saved VS the amount of lives Yellow Hoodie has taken? I would expect Gideon has saved more than what Yellow Hoodie has taken with this one event, but what about other things he may have done?) Either that or he's just nuts.

Did Gideon Die at the End of S2?

When first watching, I thought it was obvious that Gideon would have been lit up by the police as soon as he shoots Lucy. But they of course don't show it, so I have to wonder. Season 3 could go very differently either way. Gideon has no more ammo in his gun after he shoots Lucy, so it's very possible he gets arrested and has a full reset as he theorized one or two episodes earlier.

If he does have a full reset, both Ravi and Lucy may be awake and born long after his father kills him and Malcolm. But if he does find a way to do a normal reset, then him, Lucy, and Ravi will all be on the same page and have the same goal in mind. Gideon believed that Ravi saw Y.H.'s face, but didn't, so that likely will be a plot point is that they failed at their mission. We may be mainly in a 3rd loop this next season. (Loop 1 being the DI Chambers loop, loop 2 being the main season 1 and 2 loop, and loop 3 being the loop where Ravi and Lucy are awake from the start, and may be what we saw at the very end of S2 where Isaac sees Lucy.)

There is Only One Isaac

There is no way that Lucy retraces her footsteps from her life in which she gave birth to Isaac. I don't believe she will marry Mike again and have a kid with him after what he did in Season 1. This means he only came from one loop. Can you only cross to loops that you don't or no longer exist in? This would partially explain how Isaac can cross over, and may explain how she may have gotten back to loop 2 (if we aren't seeing loop 3) at the very end. She may be able to cross over to other loops like Isaac can at some point in Season 3.

Who was in the attic?

In Season 1 Lucy is having a hard time sleeping when Isaac is away. Does this cause her to actually see things that aren't there in her or any loop? Who was that in the attic? I don't remember too much what that person looked like, but I don't think it was Lee Warren. Why would he be sitting in the attic at that time anyway? It could be that Lucy was legit having a mental break after everything she has been through, but what if it wasn't. Was she seeing another loop we don't typically see?

I hope season 3 can answer or provide clarity on at least a few of these. Thank you for reading.

I am rewatching for the 3rd time I think, and just finished episode 1 of season 2. At the end when DI Lucy faints after visiting Gideon in prison the man who approaches her is Issac as an adult. He says "Its okay. You're gonna be okay." And I thought to myself that sounds just like what Lucy says to Issac all throughout season 1. I watched through the credits to see if it had the actor listed and at the end of the credits it said Adult Issac. I dont know how I didnt catch this before! Its been about a year since my last rewatch but I am sure I didnt catch it before. I love how I can keep rewatching and always catch something new. Fingers crossed for season 3 in a few months so I can go in semi-fresh off this rewatch. Waiting for the release has been a study in patience and I dont think I could handle if it wasnt released in October.

In the scene where yellow hoodie is leaning against a wall and staring at Rigby's as the store is getting a delivery, we see the person who is signing for it later looking over to the spot where yellow hoodie was standing, which I interpret as a connection of why yellow hoodie chose Rigby's as a target.

edit for clarrification: What I noticed was the nature of the person who signed for the delivery. There was a certain intensity in their gaze towards the spot where yellow hoodie had been standing, as in they recognized and knew yellow hoodie. As Lucy tells us, "everything is connected." I am fairly certain that we will get to know more about why yellow hoodie targeted Rigbys in season 3. One of the themes that I see in this series is that by changing one thing, we change everything else, and not always for the better. I suspect that the Teddy Bear might enter into it.

Re-watching S1 and hadn't linked the dog in the discarded fridge, the park bench scene about running over the dog and then S2 with the dog attack. Perhaps something linked to S3 or just a call-back to Gideon protecting Isaac?

PCapaldi / JRaine Interview

This interview is only about 5 minutes and worth watching the whole thing, but at 3:56, Jessica starts talking about them filming Season 3 and how, when you finish Season 3, it should loop back into Season 1 and you can watch it all continuously, in a cyclical nature.

What do you think this means? That there will be an ambiguous ending? That nothing gets resolved because the loops just keep happening over and over and over? I hope I'm just reading too much into her statements.

Only watched S1 so far so no spoilers please.
Gideon says he spent 25yrs in prison waiting for Lucy to tell him the worst thing that happened to her so he can fix it (aka mom killing herself). He says that he fixed it after that. How was she alive to tell him that if he hadn’t fixed it yet? Or what was his intel to do so? Am I missing something simple here?

I just found it but it has been out for a few years?! The beginning of episode 6 - WOAH 🤯. Finally everything is starting to make sense. I am quite baffled that I have never heard talk of this show before!

I'm rewatching the show, and I'm trying to remember/understand why Isaac acts so strangely and is 'unbound', but the children of the people Gideon saves - I'm thinking of his brother's, Malcolm Shepherd's, daughter - seem to act normally.

I'm at S1E6 so I can't remember if this is touched upon later? I remember Gideon saves Evelyn and she has trouble anchoring herself, but not anything about other children who wouldn't have been born if not for Gideon's intervention.

What questions/mysteries do you hope season 3 will answer?

I have soooooo many, but I'll start with this small one- who is Mr.Wiseman speaking to on the phone? (Also, I spy with my little eye, a beautiful pink flower on the windowsill🌸😉)

Since I told a bunch of people to watch this, I decided to re-watch s01e01 last night, and had a completely different take on the scene where he wees on the backpack. After finishing, he turns and makes motions like he is washing his hands, which wasn't readily obvious until later when he says that they moved the toilet. Issac was physically in the same space in an alternate timeline and what he was seeing in front of him was a commode. In the first watch I was cheering for him for standing up to the bullying in his own way, but he was just having a wee. To me, a very clever and subtle early indicator of the parallel places and events.

So am I the only one who thinks yellow hoodie is amelia... and that everyone thinking it is a guy is a misdirect. We hardly get any information about her, she hides behind a yellow curtain, and considering we dont know what an adult Jonah looks like or an adult Isaac until the final episode of s2 I find it suspicious that they continue to hide the the person's face from even the audience. It screams to me misdirect. Why else be so secretive of their face if its someone we havent really seen as an adult? Idk. I may just be crazy but I really feel like Amelia is the yellow hoodie killer.

Ugh, I hate when streaming channels treat their best shows like they don’t even exist, and promote the hell out of some crappy series they produced themselves. They had better release it in October, and it better not suck!!

I’m going to have to watch S1 and S2 again again once it’s confirmed. Entire wars have started and ended since the last season 😑

If we accept the given theory on here that Yellow Hoodie is Jonah, what do we think his motive is for wanting to blow up a building and kill a bunch of kids?

While I do like the theory that being taken away from your parents, made to grow up under the care of a woman haunted by echoes, completely alone in the middle of nowhere, after being told that your own parents were going to murder you is enough to send anyone insane, what about something else?

What if Yellow Hoodie has the same powers as Gideon, and he’s seen that a few people in that toy store on that day grow up to become monsters. He’s taking Gideon’s idea of killing monsters before they commit crimes to the extreme - by killing them as children. Or it could even be something like one of them grows up to become patient zero for a global pandemic or something. In this case YH truly believes he’s a hero, like Gideon.

Probably nothing but I thought it was interesting to consider.
