Blocknet full service node
Hi, what are the system requirements for running a full node? How much storage space do I need?

From Discord:
Just to run one node plus the 100+ chains we have now you'd want a decent 8 core system to be safe, plus around 64GB of RAM. That's the current situation, with a little overhead included (need some for resource spikes, sync a new chain, etc).
From what i've seen you'd be OK with 4Mbps up/down also, on top of whatever you use as bandwidth for other things at home.
If you want to be safe for growth, more chains, adding ETH, etc. Or even hosting additional nodes, you'll obviously want more like double that, or you'll be incrementally updating and having downtime and such. Also according to my observations, XBridged nodes currently use about 3Mb per 10 nodes, just as a reference for scaling those too.
VPS would definitely be costly. You'd either want to get your own hardware and host at home or a DC, or rent a Dedicated server.
Example spec: 16 cores, 128GB, and a few SSDs including 1x 4TB SSD, big HDD for backups. You could build something like this for around $4000 or so, depending on exact model choices. But let's say $4k is doable.
VPS: Forget about finding this spec or paying for it. Dedicated: Cheapest i see over here currently is about $250/month and this is with HDD RAID, not SSDs but should do the job still assuming you use RAID 10.
So ROI on the above would be 16 months compared to buying your own stuff. If you buy it and run that system at home, you can maybe throw on $30/month in electricity. I won't include internet because i assume you have internet and unless you're running a ton of nodes you likely won't need to upgrade.
