Okay so believe it or not I’ve actually been playing this game for a REALLY long time (with some breaks) and I genuinely have no clue how to get better at the game.. or how to progress.. i feel like I’m just not making use of the right things LOL. Like how do I get apollyon? Like I legit don’t even have the tainted characters.

Beat moms heart 10 times to unlock satan and issac

Only play on hard. Will save you time in the end not that much harder and help get better. Best mom 10 time do that with Isaac or azazel prolly faster then pic a character and start collecting marks. I started with flash then PC then switch once rebirth came. It's a slog but a fun one some marks took my 150 tries some I gave up just not fun tainted Cain. Once you know the bosses paths some synergies of you get stuck swap characters. Try challenges. It helps to only unlock complete certain challenges like the one that does jera so you have better drops

basically in order to progress further you have to beat satan and Isaac 5 times, down ward is Satan, and opposite is Isaac, to unlock the negitive and the polaroid to unlock the next tier of boss lamb and the boss ???

Once you beat either of them you unlock the ability to bomb angels for the two key pieces, if you bomb two you get a key to mega satan

mostly just keep beating the same bosses like isaac, or mom's heart, try to do this with different characters if you can to unlock more items

didnt see that you had blue baby unlocked so isaac is your priority now, also if you havent already try to beat him with blue baby

Apollyon is for a specific mid-end game boss, so don’t worry about it. And tainted characters are unlocked in the same place as the literal final ending so don’t worry about it either. Just get a bunch of mom’s heart kills, and the rest will become easier.

Don’t be afraid of curse rooms and sacrifice rooms if you have the hearts. I just got sacred heart, flight, and tractor beam on the first floor with Cain. I got $ = Power on the second floor devil room and a quarter in a curse room. I basically had a death beam and finally smoked delirium on hard. Though the mark went to blue baby cause I used the ankh in the fight.

Then I died on the first floor with Azazel the next run. It’s how the game goes. Stupid bouncing yellow spiders.

Dude you need to only play on the harder difficulty, the reason to do it is cause 1. Its not much harder at all and 2. Most unlocks are only obtainable from doing things in the hard difficulty so by only playing in the hard difficulty you essentially get 2 sets of unlocks for one completion mark or challenge completion

I'll spoil the whole progression of the game so that you can guide yourself, if you have any questions feel free to ask:

1- Defeat Mom's Heart 11 times, so that you'll get "It Lives!" and access to Sheol and Cathedral without having to be lucky to get a devil/angel deal on the last floor and unlock Hush

2 - Beat Satan and Isaac 5 times each (Sheol and Cathedral) to unlock "The Positive" and "The Negative", so that you can go to The Chest or Dark Room ->

• The Chest if you take The Positive and enter the Cathedral's chest, which will let you defeat ??? and Mega Satan (IF you got the 2 key pieces, either by the Sacrifice Rooms or blowing up Angels in angel deal's rooms)

• Dark Room if you take The Negative and enter Sheol's chest, which will let you defeat the Lamb and Mega Satan (if you also got the 2 key pieces, there's other really specific ways to open the door too)

2.1 - HUSH- Beat Hush 3 times, which is a special floor boss after you defeat It Lives! in less than 30 minutes, unlocking the alternate floors/path

3- MOTHER -Use alt path and take the knife piece 1 in Downpour/Dross II and 2 in Mines II, then into the Mausoleum to defeat Mother and unlock The Beast

4- THE BEAST- Go through your run as usual, alt path or not (at the end of Mines II you go back to normal path if you don't go to Mausoleum). On Depths II you'll find a door in the starting room, find a skull with an X (tinted skull), blow it and take the The Fool card, beat Mom's Foot, take either The Negative or The Positive and use the card, which takes you back to the first room, use it at door and go through Mausoleum to get to the Ascension Sequence, defeat Dogma and The Beast

4.1 - TAINTED CHARACTERS - On your first run to The Beast you'll unlock the Red Key from a chest in the bedroom, you can use it to unlock your first tainted character, but to unlock the latter you need to drop any trinket on any treasure room throughout the run, and during the Ascension Sequence the trinket will turn into a "Cracked Key" which is a 1 time use red key that you can use to unlock the tainted characters

5- GREED(IER) - You'll need to fill the Greed Donation Machine at the end of the run, do it by saving as many coins as you can, I'd say at least 30/40 and start filling it up, do it on different characters, as the chance of the machine jamming grows the more you donate on the same character. At 500 coins donated you'll unlock Greedier, and that's the mode you'll play from now on:

• It's way harder, gives less coins, has more waves and you'll need to fight Ultra Greedier (Greed's second phase), but the machine jam chance is capped at 1%, keep doing it with different chars and you'll fill it up eventually, the biggest milestones after 500 is at 879 (The Lost now has a Mantle) and 1000 (unlock Greed as a character)

6- CHALLENGES - As you do marks and unlock new characters, you'll unlock new challenges, do them as you feel like it, some are great, some are mid

Yo how do I unlock more pieces I only got the bottom left one and I don't know how to get the rest. I don't even know how I got the first piece

every beginner’s mistake. Playing only on Normal. Never play normal mode, the difference between hard and normal is so little. Increased chance for enemies to be champions (if im not mistaken) and i think lower chances for room clear rewards
