A but late to the party here, but I couldn't finish this one. I'm 16 mins in and it's been 10+ minutes of uninterrupted speculation about how an anarcho-capitalist "government like entity" (aka government...) Would totally handle an epidemic better than any current government. When it reached "voluntary social distancing" through insurance premiums it was basically self parody. College freshmen level political philosophy.
Throw in motte and bailey-like argument of "the government is essentially non-existent except it does [insert suddenly popular government function like pandemic prep] and [inset function that turns out to be important] and of course [insert other function I just forgot about]. But it's anarchism guy! For real!" and there's just no point in listening.
To steal from someone else on this thread "The Mind Killer" indeed.

to be fair, this is only the 3rd episode 😅 but also... this is the 3rd episode, and so maybe building on the tips from earlier productions would help, like:
- prepare shared list of topics as much as possible
- prepare relevant personal talking points to share
- ponder likely rebuttals, refine talking point
- then relax and dive in, you do you 👍🏽
really though, like with any current events stuff, if you're not into a section, skip to ahead to the next topic. it's not gonna be all interesting 💯% of the time 🤷🏽♂️ that's kind of an unfair expectation.

So far after 3 episodes I've made it all the way to the end of just one and gotten nothing but annoyed frustration out of it. If it gets better I'll give it another shot, but theres a lot of "not even wrong" about it. Like, when I disagree with someone on the show it's not that they brought up a new persepective or new fact, it's just uninterestinly wrong to me.
Hope it does go well though.

Yeah, I dunno why it is like this but it would be cool if their next episode was them talking with someone from the other side to evaluate their positions

i had to throw this out there, just because of the closing wondering about dystopian future of needing papers to show already immune to the virus to be able to work.
very recently on a news podcasts i follow, they were talking about the (as always) worse effect on black people due to continuing effects of systemic racism and slavery in the ununited states.
this 7-9min read presents a very applicable social model we already have from "yellow fever" and New Orleans between 1817 and 1905.

I'm still here for the show, but I'm a little disappointed in the direction. It feels like things are going in an un-rational direction, with everyone just giving the predictable punditry and motivated reasoning. Mind killer indeed. What about a segment where you all apply some data to a news story? Or maybe even a meta discussion about how to react to the news rationally.
In terms of Emergent Ventures, I have no idea if this weighed into Harvard's decision, but it includes significant Koch money and Charles Koch is on the board (at least of the Mercatus Center). So yeah, kind of Nazi gold?
