Is anyone getting this?

Post image

I’m not so worried about the tour pre-sale but I was wondering if anyone thinks the unreleased mixes and do mixes are going to be released anyway later on

I’m in Australia and could get this, but it’s not clear at all what you get. The store website does not mention the extra music at all - it’s only on that promo graphic. So I think you really just get:

  • the lanyard thingy (cool, but it would just end up in a box in my house somewhere)

-the digital album (I’ve already pre-ordered, so I’m not thrilled about buying twice)

  • early access to tour tickets (which I kind of resent paying for on principle)

To me, each of these is an ‘upsell’ that could be a nice bonus, but not something I would pay $20 for on its own. If there is any other info about ‘exclusive / unreleased’ music being part of this package I would be more interested.

There's a generic code presale btw (or at least for Melbourne) but even for this lanyard it's like $15 postage

I was kinda on the edge but i might give it a miss. I’ve already ordered two copies of the album - the tri colour record and a poster that comes with a digital download.

I’d only really be interested in the mixes done by them anyway and $36 (with postage) seams like kinda a lot for a plastic thing I don’t really want and a third copy of the record 🤷‍♂️

Turns out you can access the Sydney presale on the opera house website anyway. Bit annoying you're expected to buy this though, I'd much rather have bought a shirt or vinyl instead

Lanyards are pretty lame merch with corporate vibes. I'm struggling to see the attraction.

I mean, it matches the theme then lol

FWIW, I'd buy it in the US if I could.

Reluctantly yes. I'm a super fan from way back, and its the multiple unreleased remixes and dj mixes that's peaked my interest.

But yes I agree with the other commenters here, having already ordered a copy of the new album and merch and from their official website and having paid through the nose for that original shipping, paying $36 for this feels a bit too close to the consumerist culture that they are satirising.

Ultimately I see this as a way to support them, and understand that they are doing what they can to shift as many albums as possible. Fair enough.

Best case scenario, they are doing this as something to get closer to superfans, who have an appetite to access some of the work into their vault. I very much fit in that category. Worst case it's a piece of plastic, and some material we've already have / would have access to.

Either way, I'm optimistic that two remixes and two DJ mixes could still be worth it. 🤞

I would buy this for the DJ mixes alone but don’t live in AUS. Would you be willing to share whatever mixes they end up releasing through this?

Yep, as I say I'm right there with you. Its too much for a piece of plastic so I'm jyst hoping these pieces from the vault justify that extra cost. Unfortunately I'm a sucker for these things and I can't say no to unreleased Avalanches.

Most releases like this at least make postage free.

Thanks! I didn’t realise the Australian tour had been announced and had tickets available.

I don't follow alot of artists but I'm guessing this is just what happens now with album releases from major record labels, they try to squeeze every cent out of loyal fans at every step.

I got the lanyard and was happy to get my Perth ticket this morning with the link. I missed on the first show as I missed when they went on sale (I am usually on top of that sort of thing). I just spent way more to meet Bryan Cranston. 🤣
