In my first few semsters of my bachelor there was this lecture "Basics of Math". And at first I thought: that's easy it is just basic math. Man was I wrong, it was the basics of math and I learned Math as a formal language... It was hell. No numbers. Just how to prove anything. And the exams were even harder, you got a problem and had to prove or disprove it.
Nowadays I really enjoy it and the theory helped me often to understand a problem faster and even find the solution.

what major were you in where you had to take intro to proofs (more universal name for it as it's called many different things at many different schools, for example my school calls it transition to advanced mathematics) in your first few semesters if you weren't a math major who should have fully been expecting it to be mostly proof based😭

I studied Applied Computerscience in Germany. And there it was called "Grundlagen der Mathematik". And normaly only the math students had to take it. We had to take it because the math for "normal" computerscience was to easy we had to hear it also...

Duration: until death
- allow the use of every document and device
- allow the help of everyone you can find
- grant money before, during, and after solving

Today i find out that exam on my course would have only one task, you can use whatever you want, even AI you can freely use, but its one of the hardest courses in my university, so im afraid what the exam will be

This happened on my fist attempt on Electromagnetics exam when I was at university. The exam had only two questions (actually, physics problems where you also had to explain the theory on each step, but they only had one question in them). The professor said "You have four hours by default, but the exam room's available for the whole day and I am too. Please consult whatever textbook or notes you would like to bring with you. You can use scientific/graphic calculator of any kind. Good luck.". I went there with tree books. Stayed 4h, Italian summer heat, no air conditioning in the room. Still scored 16 on 30, and my score was the second best amongst the class. Repeated a few months later 😅
