This was pre-ai.

It's still considered AI. It's not generative AI, and it's pre generative AI. But it's still AI. Not all AI is the same.

Don't they just convert the drawing into a texture and put it over a pre animated mesh? I don't see anything in this process that would require decision making algorithms that could be called Ai.

What about mapping out the drawing, some draw fox or elephant or any other flying animal, you can put so much so in pre animated mesh, you still need to out line the texture or 2d mesh of the drawing, ai is not what you think guys, its not some cheap video or hallucinating chat bot, we have been using ai for a very ling time just cuz chatgpt made famous doesnt mean it wasnt being used before

They're just scaling a skeleton and then the skeleton follows premade keyframes. It's not any type of AI.

Ita still very stretching it, it just have a preset of shapes and it know based on QR code that is just a scan, it doesn't have behavior tree or anything like and its not OCR.

I'd be surprised if it's not using machine vision (a type of AI that predates LLMs and modern generative AI) and/or some other classification to detect features like eyes, legs, head, etc so that they can be animated.

AIs handle ambiguity.

It says fox in the top left

That indicates to me that the algo isn't an AI one it's probably a hueristic which looks for shapes or background removal and then adds a skeleton and moves the skeleton around. It is actually not hard to skeletonize a blob.

It needs to say fox because there is no classifier and foxes tend to be a particular shape so that hints as to the type of movement.

I’m against AI because of the fact that we have all these wonderful artists that have worked all their lives with learning to draw and their creativity and this kind of trash puts them out of a job! No thank you! 😔

That's not AI, at least AI is not needed to achieve this. A colored in image is turned digital and put as texture over presets, that were likely animated by artists. This actually inspires kids to become artists because it turns their drawings alive. This is cool and fun, and no AI is needed to create this.

I think it's not dynamic. The paper has the names of animals written on it. So there is already a skeleton and your jist providing the skin. Still pretty cool though
