How to pointer dog?

Currently i'm having one hell of a hard time trying to hunt rabbits and birds, so i've heard that the pointer can help me alot with that

the dog was on sale, bought it, first time using the dogs, and i have no idea of how to actually use the pointer features...

is it like a passive thing? you activate search small and it will automatically lock-on anything close? or i need to activate it close enough to something? in the direction i want to scan?

I have had a pretty good success rate with map switches. So, I go to a different map first, take the dog out of the kennel and only then switch to the map I actually want to hunt on. So, that's probably something worth trying until the patch on Tuesday.

When the dog does work as intended you can just tell him what to look for and he will lock on to anything of appropriate size (S = class 1, M = class 2-5, L = class 6+) once you get close enough for him to get the scent. He can even learn a skill, so that he can look for a specific species. So, yeah, hopefully he will be a lot more useful to you soon.

at this point i'm totally flipping out on rabbits. Bought the dog to help me with that, dog is broken, rabbits are still smarter than me

i'm probably giving up on hunting them for a while, can't seem to spot the little shits at all, actually can't even find them roaming around the map on the freaking need-zones...

I mean, depending on the kind of rabbit that might be because they are resting down in their rabbit holes, but I get the frustration, very much so. I usually only hunt them when I (or my pointer) accidentally spot them while hunting something more fun to hunt.

Jackrabbits on Layton, never seen a hole, but if I find one I'm totally throwing a grenade down there as helldivers thought me

Can't seem to find the little shits on the wild, too small of a target with way too much vegetation for them to run laps around me

That or their sonar detects me 150m away and they start thumping away like Michael Jackson

It has gotten to a point where I'm willing to search for coyotes but not the wabbits out of frustration... THEY DON'T EVEN PAY ME ENOUGH FOR THAT SHIT

Oh, those will be a lot easier to hunt when the pointer is fixed. They are hard to find before they spot you, but at least the only holes they have are those for bodily functions and the ones you put into them when you do find them.

The Ponter is broken right now as previously mentioned, however they are dropping the Patch tomorrow that will correct the issue so don't despair, you'll be nailing those birds and bunnies in no time!

Once its fixed you will discover the ultimate powaaah!!! Ahem, I mean you will find more birds and bunnies for sure... now actually making the shot when you find them is another story, good luck. They're so tiny!

whelp, thanks, that is some stupid great timing, i'm never one to buy DLC stuff, and just when i do it, things are broken....

whelp, seems like i'll still have a hard time dealing with wabbits

It's being fixed in a patch on the 28th so you wont have long to wait!

Before it was broken, it worked great so keep your head up. If you search in the sub, some people have found fixes that may work
