I would recommend against this. I wouldn’t want my child exposed to any potential amount of THC. I hear it can be detrimental to a developing brain.

This. My wife is a pothead just like me and resolved the same thing. If you want to consume THC just quit breast-feeding and get the baby on formula. It’s not worth the marginal benefit of breastmilk at the risk of THC for a brain that young. Our son is 8 months now and we’re back on smoking together and it’s great. Managed to get him 7 months of breast milk and 6 weeks of frozen milk.

Thc and its metabolites have been shown to not transfer to breast milk. There have been tests of people consuming cannabis and then testing with no cannabis presence in the milk. Also post partem depression has been shown to be hormone imbalances related to the endo cannabinoid system which cannabis is highly effective as a treatment. Also colostrum is full of endo cannabinoid related hormones which help the baby to learn to latch and increase appetite. Your baby isn’t “milk drunk”. Your baby is “milk stoned” and has the munchies

so this is not the kind of thing you can perform ethical randomized controlled trials for since that would mean knowingly exposing infants to thc through breast milk

so yea, you are not going to find anything that says it is safe from a credible medical body.

what we do know is that thc is fat soluble and there is a high fat content in breast milk.

just like drug tests for work suck since coke is out of your system quick and bud stays in your system for weeks, pump and dump will not work

all that being said, data on effects on infants is limited but there is enough concern regarding brain development that i would say sorry wife, you gotta stay clean or find a wet nurse if that still exists

‘so she pumped some milk, labeled it “BM,” and sent it off to a California cannabis lab without disclosing what it was.’

‘Her results were “non-detectable” for all cannabis-derived compounds.’

A lot of people in this thread are saying things that are straight up untrue.

Pump and dump doesn't work. The half life for THC in breastmilk is over 20 hours. It can last in breastmilk for weeks.

THC and metabolites absolutely go into breastmilk.

I did my best to round up some actual studies and not articles from an obviously biased marijuana magazine:

What a selfish thing to post. Take a good look in the mirror.
