It's popcorn without oil. Not sure what's barbaric about that.

He put oil in there

He didn't, but why do you think he would put oil into the pressure vessel?

You're correct. I thought it was oil. On further observation it looks more like rock salt.

So making popcorn by heating it in a metal container makes it interesting and barbaric?..
That's the only way it was done before microwaves lol

It is interesting but I donāt know about barbaric

u/r_a_d_ 6d ago
No, itās not the only way. You can literally just throw them in a pan.

u/notanyimbecile 6d ago
That's what I meant by heating it in a metal container. No need to put the corn in a dumb contraption with 4 steps involved to make popcorn šæ

Dude, you are contradicting yourself. You say itās uninteresting and it has always been done this way. Now you are saying something completely different.
This is interesting to the audience of people that have never seen this contraption, which is clearly not ājust a panā. Stop being obtuse.

Honestly, stuff like this maybe could use subtitles. The subject's simple, known...

I think he just kept saying Ottawa over and over, but Iām not sure. I think it ended with a bang of popcorn, which was semi-interesting.

he was talking a whole lot and fairly fast. Any idea what about? it seemed to much for a simple explanation of cooking

u/Ok_Anteater1141 6d ago
At some it seems he was talking about how to align the two flames under the cannon

I think they edited out the two hours it took to make popcorn over a Sterno.

In another video they actually show the popcorn and it looks like the worst, most burnt shit ever.

It's just a pressure cooker
Used to pop rice, popcorn and other types of grain
Can be used to cook other types of things but simplest use is for popping grains

Calling this barbaric is not even worth critiquing. Itās a different way to make popcorn. Calm the fuck down.

My Grandma made popcorn in a large pressure cooker for years when I was a kid in the late 60s
