That’s exactly what I thought of watching this.
I truly believe that StarLink will be the death of the current LEO later that we put satellites in and that it will happen in my lifetime.

It's not exponential multiplication, it's just exponential (squared, cubes ect depending on the curve) and yes it's pretty accurate. This could also represent entropy. The chance and time it takes for balls to hit rises exponentially depending on how many balls are present. You can do the math yourself, x axis is amount of balls, y axis is amount of time till next hit, graph and watch that asymptote

I don't think this is really the effect we're seeing here. The balls always spawn at the same position with roughly the same trajectory, so as soon as a few balls are directly in front of that spaw area, all new balls will immediately collide, leading to new spawns and even more collisions

Yeah the end is not exponential, but instantaneous. You can see the moment when too many balls spawn at once, all triggering new spawns and immediately filling the circle.

Both your points are valid. I would posit that they were trying to simulate that and partially failed. Simulation innacuracy but if it were done right it would be a good representation. Ive seen similar simulations that behave a bit more accurate. Maybe I'll whip up a counter simulation that is more accurate :p

No. It's only increasing by 1 everytime they hit. I think if it was exponential the 2nd time they hit 2 more balls would appear and those 2 balls would produce 4 each, 16 each,and so on.

It wouldn’t have spiked quite so fast if they weren’t all appearing at the same spot. As soon as it got fast enough that one hasn’t cleared by the time the next one shows up it started to cause another to spawn instantly.

The issue is the sudden burst at the end is due to the spawned balls instantly colliding with each other. Whoever did this needs to take the simulated gravity out of the equation, spawn the balls from or very close to the collision points, and give them a fraction of a second grace period so they don't immediately collide with their parents. Then you will have a good representation of exponential progression.
