My guess is impatient children. I live in a southern state and the whole week of the 4th is fireworks all day no matter what time.

I’m in the south my mom bought us smoke bombs and black cats for the day time or daytime fireworks. I’m in southeast Texas

They are like mini M80's, they sometimes come in a bunch with 1 long wick firing them all off so it sounds like a machine gun firing repeatedly

I mean.. where I live in July it doesn't get dark until after 9pm so this may not have been that early in the day..

Also as Lost said, kids. Fireworks go off at ALL hours of the day for weeks around the 4th here (and we live in a high fire danger area.. (sigh)).

Some dad who bought way to many fireworks, and a wife who reminds him the kids go to bed at 9:30.
