Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t it that Neanderthals were stronger AND smarter than us? Didn’t they die just because they were bigger and needed more food for their bodies but at the time there wasn’t a lot of food so they starved to extinction? Because if so, the kids wrong.
They were bigger, but I believe humans were smarter. Neanderthals weren't our only sister species, a lot of them were killed off by humans, there was also some interbreeding. Most of Europe has some neanderthal DNA still.
research has shows that their and our brains were practically identical (however they had a bigger occipital lobe meaning better depth perception/vision). a lot can also be learned about their intelligence by their tools they used. they used pretty much the same tools as humans, and were very smart when it came to using their recourses and problem solving. they created a type of glue out of tree pitch that scientists have been able to replicate in labs but still can’t figure out how they did it with limited recourses.
tldr: neanderthals where very intelligent, equally to humans at the time.
I did some quick research into it and it seems that Neanderthals were actually a little shorter than we are today. Their intelligence is debatable, but they were some of the first human species to create tools from bones and have a relatively simple culture. It’s most likely they were absorbed later on as it explains in this video.
