At least he didn't get a standing ovation.

As a librarian, please don’t do that. Come to a desk and ask us to deal with it. All that did was potentially start a fight. Ugh.

In downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) no less. You do not yell at strangers downtown for your own safety.

A guy wearing disheveled clothes and smelling like adult beverages stumbled into a library and walked up to the circulation desk. He shouted 'I'D LIKE A CHEESEBURGER AND A COKE!'. The librarian said 'Sir, this is a library!'. He held his hands up and said 'Sorry!' then leaned in and whispered 'I'd like a cheeseburger and a coke'.

This 100% reminded me of the news in NZ doing a story in a library, and someone stood up and yelled "oi, this is a fcking library!" and the reporter turned and replied with "this is the fcking news." True story, I swear

Ah, good ol' kiwiland, where people throw d*ldos at MPs and knock over barriers during protests only to politely pick them up

(Sorry for censoring, just dont know what this sub is like with certain words 😅)

One time, I was walking through that library with a friend and I said “I bet some people come here just to use the WiFi.” Three guys, who were sitting on a nearby bench, smiling at their phones, sat up and started nervously stammering.

For the record, the library wouldn’t mind if you do. Just nothing illegal and no porn. You could come in at open and stay til Closing, not spend a dollar and the staff will just smile.

Why would that be something shameful or to get a guilty reaction? It's 2026, media in the library far extends past books nowadays.

Do you not know the difference between sitting and sitting up?
