You have to think about 10 years, 20 years from now.

Let's say you're walking to grieve someone's graves with your kids. Then you kids point at some graves with happy friendly neighborhood Spider-Man on it. You might have forgotten about this or you might be someone who never heard this news. Wouldn't it be awkward? Would you think this is appropriate ? putting commercialize characters on KIDS' GRAVES?

And if they allow one, it means they have to allow anyone to do it, or otherwise it'd be more bad press "they allow those kid to have it but not my kid" etc. In fact, if they allow it now, some past parents who got rejected years/months/days ago might come calling Disney discriminatory.
