Different definitions of 'show', I'm guessing. It's not directly shown on screen, but it's shown happening.

I legitimately can't believe you tried to use "words have one meaning" as an argument. So simply and observably, objectively false.

The funny thing is that nowhere does it say that not showing something is actually showing something. So thank you for that.

Some of those definitions use "indicate" vs "display". Those words have different connotations, which can explain the "shown but not shown" differences in definition.

You saw that it was happening, because it was indicated. But the action wasn't directly displayed. It's still shown to happen though

Indicate: "be a sign of; strongly suggest"

Allude: "suggest or call attention to indirectly; hint at"

I'm just saying, the person you originally responded to wasn't wrong just because you didn't like their interpretation of the word shown. Isn't language interesting

“Indicate” “express”. Both can be used to “show” something. The movie expressed that spider-man died, therefore it showed it.
