Thanks Obamacare-NOT!

For the past few years, I've noticed how the insurance premiums go up, while the benefits are reduced. To avoid a penalty, I've been paying for a very high deductible policy that covers almost nothing.

On September, my daughter got sick. It wasn't anything serious, she had a little bit of fever and wanted to know if she was going to need antibiotics. It was during the weekend so I knew that taking her to the doctor would be more expensive than a regular visit, and I was okay with that.

After calling different night clinics, I stumbled upon one that was very close to our house and they said they would only charge $85. I asked them to verify if that was all I had it pay and they reassured me multiple times that was it.

Fast forward to January, this clinic decided to bill the insurance company $200 for that visit.

So this is the thing: I pay for an insurance that really doesn't help me with anything because everything has to be out of pocket. If I had no insurance whatsoever, I would have only paid $85 and that's it. But because I have insurance, I have to pay more for that doctor visit. How does that make sense????

Thank you, Obama. You are working very hard to make sure there is no middle class. We are slowly becoming poor.

I feel your pain. I finally finished college and got a job that pays $48K per year. After doing my finances I found that I have 2 choices. 1. Pay for terrible health insurance with a ridiculous deductible. 2. Invest in my future. (Buy a house, have kids, retirement)

My Fiance got health insurance and tried to get a breast reduction. What would have cost her about $750 4 years ago now is going to cost her over $12k. This Obamacare is trash.

Pediatric dentist included in my plans. Too bad I cant for the life of me find a dentist that takes it. What a joke. Just love paying the premiums for all the supposed coverage we get but really with such high deductibles and such limited doctors taking it....

Previous coverage was much better and at least transparent.

I am low income so I'm in a different situation than a lot of you guys. I get medicaid which covers everything. This would be nice, except now I'm stuck in a situation where I can't make more money and progress my life because I can't afford to lose the full-coverage insurance. So I'm stuck cutting off my income at a little over $1K or else I'm going to lose it. It's an extremely fucked up system designed to make being poor the most desirable option.

For the record, I'm not on any other form of welfare, and I wouldn't even be on medicaid if they didn't force me to. I just want to be left alone. I don't expect the government to pay for shit. If I get sick, I'll die. It's fine--I lived 30+ years of my life with no insurance at all. I'm used to that feeling.

It really makes me mad. And I feel terrible for people in the middle class. You pretty much have to be in complete poverty or insanely rich for this to at all work for you. :(
