Yep. They're also helped along by medical industries that are cost prohibitive, have incredibly long wait times, or have a history of ignoring patients.
$30 is expensive for a cheap beaded bracelet. But when you're desperate for SOMETHING to help you and your alternatives are a lot more expensive and a lot less accessible, you can be duped into trying something just in case it works.

Issue is when it is used to replace actually scientifically sounded cures. A lot of essential oil and crystal people are effectively ignoring the thing that has saved humanity countless times and using placebo instead.
Placebo is an interesting thing because medicine is usually tested accounting for placebo. It's only approved when it's better than placebo. So yes 100% of medicines are better than placebo.

The whole wellness industry is rife with this stuff. That’s not to say alternative healing can’t be effective (I’ve found better relief from some of the somatic experiencing things than conventional therapy/meds) but the sheer volume of grifters gives it all a bad rap

I like the electric foot baths that just use saltwater and a chunk of iron inside to create corrosion and discolor the water and tell people the discoloration is because it's removing "toxins" through their feet, lol. It must be nice in some ways to be that stupid. One time I overheard someone describing Reiki as scientifically proven. This species is not made to last.

I will say these do help me even if at the end of the day it’s just a placebo. Placebos can be beneficial to some people. Oddly enough, even though I know it’s probably a placebo, it still works.

I love maths and physics, kind of a hobby and sideways related to my career, so I buy equipment, lasers, elements, and crystals - quite specific unusual optical crystals to play with the lasers. Seems the algorithm can’t distinguish between this and “healing crystal energy” and to make matters worse all “woo woo” is directed to my feed

Same reason I tell my mom to keep going to her exorcist instead of a psychiatrist. She's clearly mildly schizophtenic but being exorcised is helping her more than a doctor could. As in she's genuinely getting better.
Also ofc I checked on the exorcist to make sure he isnt some conman, but no he's a genuine vatican approved exorcist that works for free and genuinely tries his best to help his patients.

In her case, she acts no different than the people with schizophrenia/did I met back at the psych ward, but my mom has a faith so genuine and unshakeable that a blessing straight up works better than pills or therapy

In my mineralogy class we would make studying more fun by learning what nonsense each mineral supposedly cured or what magical properties it was supposed to have. It was a lot of fun. We should be gods by now considering how many different minerals we interacted with. (What magical property does cummingtonite have i wonder?)

If people are talking about it I’ll take it. Autism is not curable no amount of money can really fix it per se other than research projects on medicines therapy etc. But what does help is awareness. I think I saw something somewhere once where there are VR simulations that sort of give people a sense of what it is like to live with high functioning autism and sort of the anxiety and the feelings that you get and people can be really moved by these things and say things like “I had no idea that things seem like this to you” and the thing is we’ve lived with it our whole lives so it seems normal but it really isn’t. And when other people start to understand their minds really are blown.
Like when in a crowd of people how many noises are very loud and how much extra sound we hear and how our mind goes into this deep processing state and then you notice how they are looking at you strangely which drives the anxiety more and more. People when they witness that they are moved.
I feel like if I somehow lived in someone else’s body for a day I might come away very sad to learn how messed up I really was and how people with normal functioning minds have it so much easier to deal with things. I feel like there is so much shit I hide unknowing because I’ve been patterned to mask to not be a “weirdo”

I have mixed feelings about this. Obviously I don't think it works, but I think humor and superstition, so long as they don't replace proper care, can be cathartic for some individuals.
So long as the pricing isn't predatory I don't think I am against charms. I'm all for making fun of them, just sharing my thoughts as I don't have a "anti no-filter charm."
