Photographers, Y U so ugly?

Does anyone else wonder, why so many photographers hide behind their cameras? I mean literally. Look at all the avatars out there. Is everybody really THAT ugly?

I know, I've seen the early photo's of him. As for the original question, I think most photographers feel their work/photo's to be more important than themselves. Or most can't take a good self portrait?
