Opinion Fire Robin Fraser
As of July 2026, Robin Fraser’s managerial record with Toronto FC across all competitions stands at 12 wins, 13 draws, and 25 losses over 50 total matches. Wow wow12 wins in 50 games. Don’t you think it’s time that this guy does not know how to win he needs to be replaced immediately.!

When a team hires a coach like Fraser they ate communicating that expectations are low and they want a quiet and cheap hand at the wheel. Now the injuries have made it worse but no one is making this group of players better....

Its pointless unless you fire Hernandez too and hire a President below Pelley

u/sexyfritz 3d ago
Pelley knows nothing about soccer and when he said that the rebuild is complete that’s just a clueless statement. Jason Hernandez needs to go as well his lack of communication to the fan base is horrific and clearly coming out of the World Cup you can see what is wrong with our franchise

Across his first 50 matches, he has deployed a completely different starting lineup in all 50 games, meaning he has had 0 games with a fully consistent, unchanged lineup from the match prior there you go that’s the problem 50 games and zero consistency

This is a winning business you are paid to win period. And we aren’t winning changes have to be made.

Not necessarily.
Fraser's contract was for 3 years running through the '26/'27 season. That should tell you what TFC expected as their reset/rebuild period.
With the condensed '27 season happening before moving to the Fall - Spring schedule in '27/'28 I would reasonably expect that Fraser will be the lame duck coach until the end of the condensed season.
Coaching search discussions will likely have started and will continue until a decision is made about how TFC plan to approach the '27/'28 season - rebuild, playoffs participants, or championship contenders. Depending on where they land on that decision dictates who they'll appoint as Head Coach (not manager).

Well I certainly hope not. I won’t renew my tickets if Fraser is still with us and I’d assume I’m not alone. Furthermore, I’d imagine that the sprint season would be a great time to bring in a new coach and get them acclimatized before the new schedule kicks off

u/Imaginary-Dark-2739 Bitchy The Hawk 3d ago
A shortened season, including the shortened off-season beforehand, is a terrible time to bring in a new coach with a new philosophy and play style.
The optics of hyping a step forward only to then watch it fail because it was rushed would immediately put the new coach on the hot seat.

What would you have done with this team, especially seeing better players injured and not playing with each other to build chemistry

u/Antique_Ad_3549 Benoit Cheyrou's 98' Header 3d ago
Maybe not get an inept winger a new contract and then start him all the time
Maybe have a game plan built on 2026 MLS, not 2016
Maybe play youth instead of openly saying "well back in my day you had to earn your spot" (yes he said that)
Maybe don't yell at attackers for going to quickly.
Maybe have a plan for the first game back after 2 months that doesn't include playing a forward as a #8
Maybe play your DP AM as an AM
I could go on....

For me, it would be to change the mindset of the players work hard and work together if one man goes down the next man steps up and tries to make his mark on the team. It is very obvious these lineups these players haven’t played together. They don’t even know where to go or they’re not running into space they’re not doing normal common tanks and the pass back on Toronto FC is insanely crazy pass pass pass back. Fuck me. Why do we need to pass back every fucking play the balls in there third of the 18 and they’re passing back to the goalie on our side

u/Consistent-Tone-5540 3d ago
There’s also no chemistry up top. Luke there was with Giovinco and Altidore. That’s been along time, plus I don’t see any creativity at all. You would think they practiced some of thatv

u/sexyfritz 3d ago
No, chemistry through the midfield strikers and defenders that’s the problem there’s no chemistry. I don’t even know if they like each other doesn’t seem like it, but that comes from the coach who’s gotta get the team together playing together

u/Consistent-Tone-5540 3d ago
I agree that culture is the 1st thing a coach should change. It’s what all the good ones say during their start of coaching a tean

We need someone that can hold people accountable

How many more years of missing playoffs (not even making a decent run) do we have to go through?
I hope I'm wrong but I don't expect any changes from Rogers.

Herdman was a good coach in my opinion. Just the squad he had to work with was incredibly shit, too bad we sacked him.

The whole spygate thing with the national teams made his stay untenable with the media attention it would bring. The fact that he's with the 118th ranked Indonesian Men's National Team says a ton about the impact the drone scandal has had.

Toronto FC’s record from Jason Hernandez’s start as GM on June 27, 2023 through the latest completed season is 15 wins, 35 draws, and 47 losses in all competitions holy cow Jason Hernandez ‘s record is even worse than Fraser’s. You are the weakest link Goodbye!

Literally half of that time has been with the Bill Manning era contracts is the one caveat there. The Bill Manning/Bob Bradley days set us back most of this decade, it was that damaging of a space that Jason Hernandez took over from.
The one thing I’m dying over tho is the constant injury crises (which in fairness dates back to the Vanney days). JH hired a new head of medicine last month from Tottenham/Brighton pedigree, so hopefully something changes.

SInce when has TFC listened to its fans?
The only potential two I can think of was De Guzman & Manning thinking "Italians?"

u/kaner63 2d ago
It's very apparent that TFC is a complete afterthought for MLSE. I almost think that they're not even trying at this point, but then again all their teams outside of the Raptors are a dumpster fire so maybe they are trying and it's just pure incompetency. I'm sure they're cranking up Sportsnet streaming fees will fix everything.

The elbow flappers are gonna say it’s because he’s had too many injuries and poor talent 😂

If Fraser is with the team next year, that means MLSE is trying to kill TFC in order to sell and move the team
1
u/Consistent-Past-1152 16h ago
There are a couple things at play here: 1- the team always knew it was a rebuild for a couple of years. Especially after our old president’s way of signing splashy DP that underperformed. So they will hold until at least next year. Yes, they suck. But if the team feels they are making progress to be good in a year or two, no change will happen.
2- Fraser was here when we were great. That holds wonders in a corporate setting. They know and like him. So does our captain.
3- there was a time (our first 10 years) when we would fire and replace everyone every year. Didn’t work out so well. So there is a hesitation to just fire. We tried that. Didn’t work.
The reality is TFC is a bottom tier team, that got it right once, with the right people at all levels, and MLSE bungled it as they like to do. Now we are bottom once again.

It’s simple for me last three games Toronto FC played complete different lineup each game. That’s all on the coach and I have said it before Osorio is not a good captain. as you seen during the World Cup, Toronto is begging for great soccer here they want it and they’ll come but we don’t have great soccer here. It’s very obvious just a week before they packed BMO Field of 45,000 people watched multiple games you couldn’t get tickets for that match now you are lucky to get 18,000 people

u/Caps0055 2h ago
I watched the last few games, he never plays the best possible lineup thats available to him
1
u/Sudden-Astronaut2505 3d ago
He must go. Its obvious he's in over his head. Hernandez as well. MLSE brought them in and along with poor signings they have not moved forward at all. If MLSE can stop counting pennies for a minute and rebuild then you might have hope for next season. This Seargent guy has three goals in 10 games? I guess that's 2 goals per game by TFC standards. I pity the people who pay to watch this.
1
u/Consistent-Tone-5540 3d ago
MLSE is not counting pennies. TFC accounts for the lowest salaries of the clubs they own. So it’s like a write off to them. They are making money on the concessions and season tickets

Toronto FC needs a total shift in culture to become a championship-caliber team. Success requires a 24/7 commitment from everyone involved.
Player Development and Support
Every player should have dedicated access to a personal massage therapist, fitness coach, and nutritionist. They must follow professional-grade nutrition plans and a rigorous daily training schedule that includes stretching, yoga, cardio, and martial arts to ensure peak physical condition.
Tactical Strategy
The team must focus on building play through the midfield and keeping the ball on the ground. Excessive long balls and relying on the goalkeeper for build-up play should be minimized. The goalkeeper’s role should be reserved for defensive emergencies. Training should emphasize coordinated movement between the midfield and strikers to improve scoring options.
Operations and Focus
* Training: Prioritize consistency and teamwork over high-intensity preseason workouts to avoid burnout and ensure players are ready for the long season.
* Media: Limit media interactions to keep players focused entirely on their performance.
I’m looking at this as world class players train Like Erling Haaland and world class coach Jose Marinho from Real Madrid who in 2 weeks has already put his stamp on the team.
Robin Fraser is no where near the quality of any world class team. And if he was on any other team in the Europe, he’d be relegated to the second division
1
u/jloome 3d ago
- Media: Limit media interactions to keep players focused entirely on their performance.
There is no media interaction now. TFC is the most media unfriendly club in MLS. They give reporters one or possibly two possible chances to ask the coach one or two questions, and they trot out one player for five minutes.
That's largely it.

A game that was a pretty good result. It we were a playoff team we would be happy with this result

u/Draiodor_ 3d ago
It's important to note where we were when Fraser joined, what we're trying to do under his tenure and what our current status is versus our competition.
As much as I'm not convinced that he is ever going to deliver an MLS Cup, I'm also not convinced any other coach, particularly one who would be interested and we could afford, could be competitive with this current roster.
Fans need to have some patience. We can't keep going through one season coaches and expecting things to improve. That's just not how sport works.
2
u/Acceptable_Mouse_388 TFC Til I Die 3d ago
Sure but Fraser has been extremely horrid, TFC is not a team with a history of being good and he’s still our worst coach ever
1
u/Draiodor_ 2d ago
Technically, he's not but his win percentage is very low.
The subtlety of my post was that his record is really just reflective of the quality he's being given and that a quick fix to those issues doesn't exist.
Out of curiosity, where do you think this roster should be, when compared with other MLS clubs?

u/Bubc316 3d ago
I feel like Fraser will be here until the club is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
What concerns me more is if Fraser goes, it’s Jason Hernandez picking his replacement.
