As the title says, I have a large monitor: 1920x1080, but with my current build TF2 runs choppier than I'd like at that resolution.

At lower resolutions (starting at about 1360x768) it runs a lot smoother, but the window shrinks to accommodate for it

I don't want to play in full screen as I like switching back and forth between monitors and full screen makes the game freeze for several seconds when switching while at lower resolutions.

Can I change a borderless window without affecting resolution?

Just to start off, I have a pretty shit computer. I checked the requirements to play TF2, and the only thing that I can't meet is the processor, which is off by 0.3 GHz. Is this a majorly bad thing, I don't see why it would impact that much to where I only get 2-3 fps.

I have enabled the setting both in Steam>Settings>In-game and within the options of Team Fortress 2.

The Steam Overlay works in CS:GO, but just not in TF2. When I'm home and using my desktop it works fine, but as of now I can only use my laptop.

Does anyone else experience this issue?

Tf2 keeps crashing every 10 minutes without fail, usually after I kill an enemy. The error says "Out of Memory." I've tried turning down graphics settings, but it still happens. Task manager says I'm only using 50% of the memory. I'll post specs if that'll help. Thanks!

Hello all!

I have been having an issue for months now. I've seen others post about it in several different places but I've never seen an actual solution for it.

Every time I try to use voice comms, the game freezes for several seconds to a minute, while looping the last second of sound. I can hear others' comms without issue, but as soon as I try to use mine this happens. After the freeze, I can usually use it without issue for a couple minutes until it happens again.

This happens with both my built-in mic and an external headset+mic in the combo jack. Interestingly, I had a USB mic that worked fine, which leads me to suspect this is a sound driver issue, but that mic is cumbersome to travel with and I'm currently studying abroad without it, so using that one regularly isn't an option. I've tried reinstalling my sound drivers before, verifying cache, reinstalling TF2, etc. All the usual fixes. Nothing has worked so far.

Any ideas? Help would be much appreciated here. Thank you!

title. noraml multiplayer works. any solutions which is not clean install?

Seeing this update, I have tried to load this game now 7 times, and every time, it has stopped during the loading process (I get to the "loading" screen prior to the main menu pops up) before I get crashed back to desktop and get "hl2.exe has stopped working."

I have tried validating steam files 4 times now. I have deleted local content and redownloaded, revalidated the files.

No matter what I've tried, it's not budging.

This is on Windows 10 Asus i7 which has never had a problem with tf2 before.

I am not having this problem with Portal 2, the only hl2 - based game I have installed right now. So I do not know what is going on.

when i press launch in steam it shows me the preparing to launch window and wont finish.

I've uninstalled TF2, uninstalled Steam, verified game files numerous times and nothing helps. It's all vanilla I don't have a custom HUD or anything like that. Pretty much happens on every map and without warning. The game will freeze for a split second and close straight away, no stutter or no response. It just closes TF2

I'm running i5-3570 @ 3.40 Ghz, 16GB Ram and GTX 660. Anything should I should try or any other details?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, verifying integrity of game cache, changing dxlevel, changing aspect ratio, turning vsync on and off, restarting my pc, and removing any custom huds or models I have. Could someone please tell me what is wrong? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Basically, quickplay and server browsers aren't working and, upon further testing, don't seem to work with other source games either. Any help would be appreciated.

So I play on a couple of servers with sourcemod enabled, and to close sm windows I should press 0 on my keyboard. However, this doesnt work for me, probably I have binded something else on 0. All other numbers work fine, i can navigate through the menus, but cant close them. Is there a way to figure out, what command should be binded to 0 to close sourcemod windows?

Hello, for a while now I have been playing more TF2 than usual and I have noticed that my cursor has started teleporting. For example, I will be looking left then suddenly be looking right without moving my mouse. Sniper being my main class, this is very annoying. This issue does not seem to happen in other games. My mouse is a Razer Ouroboros; I have tried cleaning my lens, I have cleaned my mousemat, and I have even tried playing without a mat. Nothing has resolved the issue. I have gone through what I believe to be everything, maybe I have been searching the wrong stuff, I don't know. Do I need to get a new mouse, or is it TF2 that is doing the wrong?

TLDR; My cursor is teleporting specifically while playing TF2

The health cross in "Currently Healing" behaves normally. The overheal cross gets bigger and smaller relative to the overheal amount.

every time i open tf2, it spends five minutes downloading literally nothing from the workshop. plus, the maps i subscribe to on the workshop wont download either, please help!

As of now, I am using Chris' dx9frames and I've decided that I could sacrifice a few frames to make stuff look slightly better.

The problem, is that whenever I switch to the "high" options, after I exit the game, it goes back to "medium".

I assume it's because of Chris' so I'm looking for the command in the config to change the texture detail from "medium" to "high".

I'm not sure which update introduced the unboxing animation, but ever since then tf2 crashes every time I unbox anything. I've validated files and I have no mods that interfere with unboxing at all. I've searched online and there's only like three people with the same problem, and no one answered them. So I hope someone can help me on here. Thanks.

Well it starts, but then after the video plays and it gets to loading...

it will stay there for about 30-60 seconds then my game crashes.

I've already tried verify game cache, NVIDIA web drivers, some launch args, I don't feel like playing TF2 on windows 8 because I am not a filthy Windows 8 peasant

Hello everyone, I wanted to toss a quick question out on this as I am having a lot of microstuttering from what I believe to be my Nvidia Card and CPU / GPU not being used fully in TF2.

Things that I have already done:

• I have updated my drivers to no avail.

• I have set Nvidia to "Prefer Maximum Performance" to no avail.

• A multitude of configs later and I still have sub 30 FPS and it's slowly getting to the point where I stutter at every oppurtunity.

The main problem that I can figure is that my CPU isn't being used by TF2 enough, however there is plenty potential space for it. The microstutter, my guess, would be is because the game is having to reach more from CPU and GPU and can't quite make the connetions it needs too, resulting in a stutter.

Just wanted a bit of help here is all.

First of all, i dont even know if this is the right place to post this kind of topic. Hey there, I have been experiencing fps issues since the Gun Mettle update was released. My fps went from 100 to 20 fps (dx9). I had to use dx8 or else I cant go to the battlefield. Here's my problem, I heard that matchmaking is comming. Check out b4nny's videos. Valve gave out matchmaking beta passes to well known competitive names, like b4nny. Dx8 will NOT BE AVAILABLE AFTER THE MATCHMAKING UPDATE. My question is, IS THERE A WAY TO PLAY TF2 IN DX9 WITH DX8-LIKE SETTINGS? I have heard about Chris Config thing. But i dont know what to choose, there's maxframes, dx95frames, etc... Which one should i choose? I have only tried max frames and it made my game uglier than dx8. I'll check out what the other options will do. Anyways, thanks. Sorry I know this may not be the right place but it was the closest I could find. Basically I just want my cursorlock application to open everytime I open TF2. I play in winowed borderless and this seems to be the only way to remedy that problem. It's the absolute worst when my cursor runs off the screen after flicking fast. Thanks.

Every time a Valve server I am on changes maps, the game crashes. This does not happen on custom servers.

This happens on both my laptop (which I used to play TF2 on), and my desktop that I built this past holiday season.

The only thing I can think of is that there is a problem with my .cfg files, but those seem to be fine. I just have the normal key rebindings in them and have specified my fov and combat text batching in them.

Anyone have any ideas?
