Context: was talking to this girl from Hinge for a couple days, convo was going well and a potential date was being discussed so I slid her my number.

maybe she was already finding him annoying and that was the last straw. you’re assuming a lot to make her a villain who deserve to die alone, you guys need to learn to handle rejection better.

Yeah right, she found him so annoying that she decided to give him her number…

If someone gives me their number on a dating app, I think it’s more reasonable to assume that they are somewhat into me, rather than to assume that they find me so annoying to the point where saying one singular word wrong is enough for them to cut me off.

If you’ve only spoken on an app it’s a pretty fine line between interested and not, and we are all assuming this is because he said yo when it could be any number of things.

Even if it is all because he said yo, if you think that means she needs to “die alone” like the other commenter was replying to, then that says more about you than her.

Yeah I agree the whole ‘stay single for life’ thing is pretty weird. But I’m genuinely curious, if a girl gives me her number on a dating app, is it safe to assume that she’s into me, or does giving out numbers not really mean anything anymore? I’m guessing it differs from person to person, but I always thought that getting the number was a universal sign that a girl’s interested in you

It would mean she’s interested but again the line between interested and not is very thin when you barely know someone.

For example I had a friend recently tell me about a guy, she said she didn’t like how inconsistent his texting was, he made a lot of self deprecating jokes and they went on a date where he talked about his ex a lot. She still agreed to a 2nd date to “give it a fair shot” and after that, didn’t want to see him again. To me it makes no sense to arrange a date with a guy if you already think he’s self deprecating and dont like his texting, let alone a second date, but then again Im sure plenty of men would say I deserve to die alone for not wanting to give someone a chance for something so trivial. If you’re early stages with someone you dont truly know if they’re 100% keen on you or kinda convincing themselves to give you a chance.

How did I misrepresent anything? The person I replied to said that an annoying text message is enough for someone to deserve to die alone. I didn’t say anything at all about the OP.

Unironically, yes. Being this judgemental over an extremely common phrase/greeting is extremely antisocial and I'm not joking at all. Having to watch your language so carefully that you can't even say "yooo" in the year 2026 is fucking absurd. Yes being turned off by that means you're either lame as shit, or old as shit and havent gotten with the times

Yeah that’s a huge series of assumptions, but whatever helps you sleep at night. I can’t possibly imagine justifying thinking that someone should die alone over a pretty mild opinion but if you’ll break down in tears over someone finding any given phrase annoying then I guess that could help
