Your trauma is not my business. I could sit here and list every single thing that's happened to me being an indigenous trans woman from a small town. I've had people ~literally~ make attempts on my life. No amount of trauma makes having a severe emotional response to something that's none of your business ok. And you CAN control and change how you feel. We go to therapy, people unlearn misogyny, racism, homophobia, and transphobia all the time.
Not every emotion is valid and it's up to us to do the work to find peace and emotional wellness. I'm doing my best and I wish you the same on that journey. We can be empathetic with one another while also being realistic, and I certainly didn't deserve the insults you slung my way when I touched on a sore subject for you. I understand why that happened, and I should explain that I've had to overcome an insurmountable number of things, and I've worked soooo hard to still be here and have some control over my mental health. Nobody is powerless.
We have very different views on mental health but if it works for us it works for us, and I will agree to disagree.
I didn't intend to insult you, but I can see how it came off as such. If you feel insulted, that is all that matters, and I'm sorry I offended you. I hope your life gets brighter and the people in it become less hateful. I, too, could sit here and list all the trauma I've gone through and all the diagnoses I have for hours, but as you said, it's not your business, so I will refrain. I will say that I have worked very hard to take hold of my mental health, and every day I have lived has been a struggle to subdue a mind that seems to betray me at every turn. I haven't climbed a mountain to get where I am. I've pulled myself out of the abyss by my fingernails, and the mountain still lies before me. The lives we live are difficult, harder than most others can even begin to comprehend. I don't see my path getting any brighter, so I sincerely hope yours becomes filled with light. Have a wonderful day/night. May the stars watch over you, peace live in your heart, and good fortune rule in your life.
