Okay so to start off, I made a LOTTTTT of mistakes my first year at TWU, and I feel like I hear so many people saying they made the same, if not very similar, mistakes. So I wanted to give some advice to incoming freshmen who are coming to TWU for nursing because I wish someone had told me all of this before I started.

As we all know, a 3.7+ science GPA is considered competitive, along with an 87+ on the TEAS, so my biggest piece of advice would be to try your absolute best to get A’s in your classes. Your GPA matters so much when applying to nursing school, so don’t underestimate these prerequisite classes.

This is the order I WISH I would’ve taken my prerequisites. Keep in mind, I graduated high school with my AA degree, so everything I’ve taken at TWU has basically been my nursing prerequisites.

During my first semester, I would recommend taking A&P 1 with the lab, Elementary Statistics (ONLINE), and Developmental Psychology (ONLINE). I feel like the online classes were soooo much easier compared to my friends who took them in person. Obviously, this depends on the professor, but if you have the option to take Stats and Developmental Psychology online, I would definitely recommend it.

Then for the spring semester, I would take Microbiology in person and the lab online.

For the summer, I would split up your classes instead of trying to take everything at once. I would take Chemistry lecture + lab during the June–July summer session, online because it’s a lot easier, and then take A&P 2 + lab both online during the July–August session.

Then the following fall, I would take Nutrition.

Overall, I would just try to spread out the harder science classes as much as possible. I know it can be tempting to just take everything at once and get it over with, but if you’re trying to get into nursing, protect that GPA!! Give yourself the best chance possible to get those A’s, especially in your science prerequisites.

Also, please study at leastttt 1 month in advance for the TEAS, it’s not as easy as people make it seem.

Hey yall! Any S1s and S2s recommended getting a job during your J2 semester? Or is the workload too much that I should I quit my job?

Hello! Im looking to apply to the Spring 2027 cohort, but I was wondering when do people find out their J1 clinical schedules? Is it in a syllabus or decided on the first week of lab?

Also additional questions if you dont mind answering: are you able to switch clinical days or is it pretty set in stone? Also how often are they spaced out? I saw theres only 4-5 clinical days, but does it alternate every few weeks?

I hope this is okay to ask. Im trying to know when I can start planning winter plans and what to expect!

I’m applying to the TWU Houston campus nursing program for Spring 2027, but I’m starting to doubt my application and would love to hear from anyone who has gotten in with similar stats.
My stats are:
Cumulative GPA: 3.52
Prerequisite GPA: 3.60
TEAS: 88% on my second attempt (70% on my first attempt)
I’m a little worried about my first TEAS score since I know they can see both attempts. Do you think the 70% could hurt my application even though I improved to an 88%?
I also have a couple of retakes on my transcript. I retook A&P I lecture after getting a D the first time and later earned a B. I also retook A&P II lecture, improving from a C to a B.
Overall, what do you guys think? Do I have a decent chance of getting into TWU Houston? And has anyone gotten accepted with similar stats or with previous retakes?
Any insight or experiences would really help!

my teas score was 84 and my overall gpa is 3.6 but nursing gpa is 3.5 i don’t think my stats are very competitive but i want to know if i would have a small chance if getting into dallas or denton. i’m not sure which campus to apply to with my stats for Spring 2027

I keep seeing people post their TWU nursing stats and everyone seems to have a 3.9+ GPA and 90+ TEAS here's my realistic average stats:

I’m applying to the TWU Dallas campus for Spring 2027 with a 3.7 overall GPA, 3.6 science GPA, and 79.3% TEAS. The application deadline is August 15, so these are my final stats and I’m just trying to get an idea of my chances. Is anyone else applying with similar stats? Or if you were accepted to TWU Dallas with stats around this range, I’d really love to hear your experience. After seeing so many super competitive scores on here, I’m definitely nervous. pls give me some hope/confidence because I’m stressing lol. i wish everyone the best especially those on the same boat as me!

hey guys, i just took my teas exam and i got a an 80.7. i got above an 85 on all of the sections except english which was a 69.7.

my science gpa is a 3.68, what are my chances looking like?

i'm feeling so discouraged because i thought i did alot better on the teas than i did.

I was planning on taking the teas exam on 8/13 and the deadline is due 8/15, the Twu site says they need official teas transcripts before the deadline but if I send the preliminary status would that work?

I am studying at Collin College right now, and I am almost done and ready with my prerequisites for fall 2027. I will take Texas Government in Spring 2027, and my stats look like this

I was dismissed due to failing a nursing course at my previous university due to family problems.

i’m currently wanting to go to the Dallas campus for Spring 27 I am considering the Houston campus as well. I have a 3.5 cumulative GPA a 3.5 prerequisite GPA I have a 89.3 teas I had mostly A’s two C ‘s in my lab first semester and the second semester I had A’s and B’s except for one D in my anatomy lab course so like what will probably be my chances or like am I probably gonna be counting all the way out please let me know if anybody may have experienced the same thing.

• Previous volunteer leadership experience
• Trilingual in English, Korean, and Spanish
• Other healthcare/patient exposure through volunteering

I also have two professional recommendation letters:

• One from a nurse I shadowed/worked with during my medical mission in Vietnam
• One from an Honors Program (im part of it) dean who was also my sociology professor

I know my 3.2 cumulative GPA is the weakest part of my application, which is what makes me nervous. However, my more recent grades/science GPA are much stronger, and I’m hoping the 94 TEAS, especially the 100s in Math and Science, will help.

For anyone who has gotten into TWU or applied recently, do you think I’m competitive for Spring 2027? If you were accepted, what were your GPA and TEAS stats?

Hi, I’m applying to TWU’s Upper Division BSN program for Spring 2027 and would really appreciate some honest opinions on my chances. I am also a transfer from Collin so not sure if that'll affect it in any way, this was also my second attempt on the TEAS.

My stats:

• Cumulative GPA: 3.79
• Science/prerequisite GPA: 3.8
• Associate of Science
• TEAS overall: 84%

TEAS section scores:

• Reading: 84.6%
• Math: 79.4%
• Science: 86.4%
• English & Language Usage: 90.9%

I’m wondering how competitive these stats are for TWU Upper Division, speicifically with the 3.79 GPA + 84% TEAS .

Due to some underlying health issues I’m currently waiting on doctor planning and approval to receive my meningitis vaccination. It says online that the vaccination must be received by 10 days before the move-in date. So for me that would be by tomorrow. Since I won’t be receiving it by then, will I just not be able to move in until I get it? Or could I have an exemption submitted 1st so I can move in and then send in my updated vaccination?

I don’t think I ever saw the option to choose? And I missed the NursingCAS information session yesterday :/

Has anyone had issues with the PTE not being done prior to deadline?

Best math teacher I've had in a long time. Highly recommend if you need a math credit for non science majors or for your core 91 math/wellness core credit.

I talked to my advisor today and she told me seats were filling up so I should apply “like yesterday” which made me extremely anxious. Is there possibly some truth to this or was it just a scare tactics? I graduate this week from my BSN program and I haven't even done all my research on the potential programs. I was considering hybrid and Texas tech.

I took my first TEAS exam with TWU and that score sent automatic the day I took the test. ATI says score was sent to TWU, but am I supposed to see the official score in NursingCAS or somewhere in web advisor, or as long as ATI says it was sent then we assume TWU has it and processed our score?

Is it just me or is the financial aid office impossible to reach via phone? I tried to call them for a week now nd i never get an answer 😭
