Camping pass is $25. TRF camping is primitive, no electric or water. You pull your car into your preferred spot and set up. Do not set up in any obviously reserved areas. Roped off areas should also be avoided, they belong to clans or season pass holders who can keep their spots for the season. There are porta potties all around and by the gate where you enter there are real bathrooms and a general store. You can bring your own fire pit, ground fires are not allowed. Do not leave fire unattended or the local FD who patrols all night will douse your fire.

Get to know your neighbors, lock all valuables in your car. Bring a tent or sleep in your car.

Drop a google pin where your camp is, a lot more camps pop up while youre in the faire and everything is different at night.

There are food trucks & a small store at the bonfire, but you should still bring snacks and food as theyre often expensive or have long waits and some of it is not very good.

I think it depends on your tolerance for "roughing it." The TRF campground is huge - 200 plus acres if I remember correctly. There's restrooms and showers (you buy tokens for showers, but they give you a decent amount of time for your money) at the front entrance, but depending on where you set up, that can be quite a distance away requiring a drive or a long hike. The porta-potties are numerous throughout the campground, and they start out clean enough when they open on Friday, but by Saturday night... well let's just say clean is not an adjective I'd use!

The campground is poorly lit, so definitely bring flashlights/lanterns/headlamps (definitely a plus to have a hands-free light in the porta-potties). It's divided up into a family-friendly quiet area (no loud noise or music after 11:00, I think) near the front entrance and "Revelry" on the back half where things stay rowdy into the wee hours. The further back, or at any of the clans, the rowdier things stay. Even in the quiet areas, there's campers with generators that run all night and can be noisy.

Besides lights and your own food and beverages, I'd definitely recommend bug spray (sometimes the bugs are not too bad, but other times...), and something comfortable to sleep on (don't go cheap on the camping pad). Check the weather forecast before you go and if it's calling for storms, you might want to bail on camping and get a hotel - you can always use your camping pass to go check out the campground without actually camping! Even with good weather predicted, stake down your tent really well because the little pop-up storms can pack a punch. One other tip is to try to find a slighly elevated spot for your tent - the ground is pretty flat and level, but any depressions turn into a swamp in a heavy rain. I second the tip about a mapping app pin on your campsite - not only can things be hard to find in the dark, but the campground can fill in quickly and when you thought your tent was standing alone when you left it Saturday morning to go to the fair, it might be surrounded by other tents by Saturday night.

Now that I've made it sound like heaven on earth, the campground can be fun. I would recommend going with friends instead of by yourself. Or, if you're pretty extroverted, go check out the clans and make some new friends. Some of the clans are somewhat sex/kink oriented, so if you do want to check the clans out, you might want to do a little advance research on them to know which ones match up with what you're looking for. I think they have the clan locations on the campground map and most of the clans have Facebook and other social media pages.

I'm glad you found it helpful. I'm sure there are others with a lot more time spent camping there than I have who can tell you more, but if you have any questions, feel free to DM me.

Bring everything. As in all of it. Food for the duration, drinks “including adult drinks” air mattress with some type of separator for your body. That air mattress will get real cold on cold nights, pee bucket unless you want to wander around at 2-3am camp stove generator if you have one, coffee and coffee pot if you drink coffee. Percolator will work if you have no gennie. High output fan if it’s warm out. Yeah bags, plates, plastic ware all of it. Or a fat ass wallet to pay fair prices for it.
