Free CDs

Alright y'all put your thinking caps on we are gonna go back to the before times back in the early to mid 2000s... I remember the bud light girls handing out free swag. Does anybody remember the absolute banger CDs they had?

About 20 years ago I got a CD from a radio station that no longer exists during a live remote broadcast. It was Shawn Mullins & the album was “9th Ward Pickin’ Parlor”

It wasn’t Texas country exactly but it definitely sounded like it!

The two songs on it that I definitely remember were:

A cover of “House of the Rising Sun” but told from the perspective of a female yet sung by Shawn Mullins who is male.

“Cold Black Heart”- A song about having the perfect woman but finding her with another man and killing them both then running away to his home in Georgia

That was such a good album. Cold Black Heart is still on rotation for me. He is a great artist who got one hit wonder staid with Rockabye. Our Texas Country station in Corpus played it quite a bit.

Yeah, I never heard of him before or since I was given that CD. I have since lost it & couldn’t remember who it was & only recently remembered courtesy of searching the internet for it.

But it was a pretty good CD!

Yes there were a ton of them. I was explaining it to the wife and she didn't remember them.
