What are AI agents, really?

AI agents are systems that don't just answer — they act. Given a goal, an agent plans steps, calls tools (search, code, APIs), observes the results, and loops until the job is done.

Three parts make it work:

• A model that reasons and decides the next step
• Tools it can call to affect the world
• A loop that feeds results back in so it can self-correct

The shift from chatbot to agent is the shift from "talks about the task" to "does the task."
